I started my trucking career when i was 23 now i'm 37 and it's been a hell of a roller coaster for me on this 14 years But one thing i must say is that all the hard work and ups and downs paid off at the end, Now i manage my company with a small fleet of 12 trucks and growing, the Rule number #1 that helped me becoming successful was, maintaining a good amount of funds on a savings acc for worst case scenario because eventually will happen and always be on top of your equipment because no mechanic no matter how good they are will look into it better than you.Good luck on your way to success.

To all you youngsters out there let me tell you something Truck driving is waaaay waaaay easier when you’re young specially in your 20s because once you hit the late 30s oh boy that’s where it gets harder because your body changes specially if you don’t take care of it you start getting all’s this blood pressure.. anxiety and all that stuff so my advice is try to do truck driving while you’re young and if you do it for a long run try to eat healthy and don’t do drugs and don’t abuse alcohol either Remember Being Healthy is just as important as having a clean Cdl license.

If you're leaving 70k income for 3-months or 4-months go for it because obviously you have bigger and better things on the horizon! Don't listen to 'complacency' or 'tweedle dumb' or what 'tweedle do!' Because 'Jeff Bezos' didn't settle for 'mediarcacy' now he's worth 200 billions dollars, and 'Amazon's' worth 1.2 trillion dollars !!! So keep expanding on bigger and greater goals, ambitious, and achievements and leave the simple minded thinking to the simple minded people! And I love that attitude you have that it's something bigger and better for you other than a truck driver owning only one truck, can't wait to see what is !!!

Awesome video bro. I got my CDL in February. It was paid for by my current company. We are a short haul on a 13 mile loop hauling frac sand from the plant to the storage facility/rail loadout. I put in my two weeks last week and am going OTR for the training center whom I obtained my CDL through. A hotshot producer from Los Angeles is starting a new business venture (trucking) so we are the first employees to start this Amazon Prime relay run. Should be able to get my experience, plus she's paying $0.68/mile. Can't complain about that. I'd like to purchase a truck forming a consortium with the training center, as one of the former trainees accomplished this already. Her contract agreements entitles her to 40% of the profits. Good luck in your travels and stay safe brother.

Thanks for the video. I knew from my minor research that Owner Op's made some good money. I've got a permit and going to classes next week to get my CDL paid for by my company. 1 year contract with them to do regional runs. I might do it 2 years for experience and during that time I'll be saving up for a truck similar to yours I believe. I like driving--but I want to control my hours and such as an owner. I don't need to work as much as you since I've got a wife and kids, so when the experience is there I'll be working hard so many month of the year to earn about $70-$80k and then taking off the rest of the year for the most part driving only to keep myself known if I can do it that way. I appreciate seeing the work day though. Had no idea that many tomatoes were going out of those fields!

I have my cdl and i know i could be doing a lot of money too. But i don't like to be a slave working over 14 hrs a day. Besides, the more you earn the more taxes you pay... but if you like to feed all those bums in the corners panhandling. Go ahead. Your choice. I'll keep driving my straight job truck for only 7hrs daily and get around 1k a week.

7 days / week should be illegal that's slavery not only physically but also mentally. why are you selling your truck if its making you money? switching to sleeper OTR?

Been an owner operator since I was 22..would I do it again? FUCK NO!!!! trucking is a waste of life..ya you make good money but life is more important then money! Especially when you start having a family of your own. If your single with no kids ya go do it. Get your money and get out of if!
