Welcome back to another DITL! Since I was out of town Isaias decided to film a day in the life of a crane operator! What he does is absolutely incredible and I have no idea how he does it! Being a crane operator is very difficult and requires a special kind of talent! Also, sorry about the upright footage, he didn't think to film sideways and apologies for this taking awhile to be uploaded! Anyways, I hope y'all enjoyed and I will see y'all in the next one!

i have a question about technicians. if im a crane operator but i also have the education to fix and troubleshoot things on the crane, do you think that would ad value to my job ? or even if i would be allowed to operate the crane and also have position to fix it at the same time ?
@LAMESABEARINGINC
@LAMESABEARINGINC 9 ай бұрын
Depends. Tower crane operators are only resposible for maintaining the greasable points of the machine periodically. Otherwise there are certified technicians that assemble, disassemble and repair the crane. They would rather us operators not mess with the fixing with the level of liability involved. On mobile cranes, yes it would be considered a plus and I would definitely consider a candidate with mechanical experience and training when it comes to chosing the best candidate. Thank you for the question!

I think it’s a linden Comansa. The ones I’ve seen in construction sites around my city have A/C units in the cab. Not sure if that’s a thing for them all?

My husband specifically.. worked Monday-Saturday about 6-6. They gave off all federal holidays. And of course if it was pouring concrete specifically it would be more like 11pm-4pm the next day. Sometimes the jobs go 24 hours straight so you will work one 12 hour shift. All just depends on how fast something needs to get done.

Why can't they convert those tower cranes to be remote controlled so operators don't need to go up that high everyday and could be even safer.
@anthonyalianell1371
@anthonyalianell1371 4 ай бұрын
The human touch will always be needed. It's better when there is a trained operator instead of someone trained in remote control. Radio signals have lag and precision is always better than "close"

I’m pretty sure some company is working on it but it’s a high stakes job if something goes wrong so it needs to be much better than a human before something like that will sell.
