hiii so i know its been a minute but i finally got time to edit my vlog from my summer internship (only took me 5 months!). i was really limited in what i was allowed to show - i can't really show the actual work i am doing or faces which is why you will see i covered some up and the footage is a little choppy because i didn't realize that before filming. other than that i hope you guys enjoy the video!!
oh also with the timeline of things it is very approximate because i literally am editing this footage 5 months later so i had to guess lol

This is underrated perspective. Infact most of these lucrative job, modern societies suffer from peter pan syndrome, not grown at all. But because these jobs are highly paid, we see this as the absolute success point. That might be not be right. Fundamentally these jobs are simply unworthy, just staring at a monitor. A mortal being! Lol programming is more thinking than actual typing on the computer. You’re thinking of how to solve a problem, what algorithm to use etc. Then how to implement it, and then debugging like she did there. You don’t necessarily need to be next to a computer screen to be thinking on how to figure these out which is most of the work 🤪

This is how big tech companies operate. They try to make the workplace as home-like as possible so you don't feel like you're even at work. It causes employees to stay over much longer if they are not meeting their deadlines, that is the kicker.

This is a good video Michelle, but I would be very careful if you decide to film another one. Facebook can fire you for filming/showing your laptop screen especially if it has confidential information in it, luckily your desktop is just full of screenshots. I have the same "ng-update" sticky note on my desk, I always forget to update angular dependencies.

Debugging and ultimately fixing the problem is the job of a software developer. It’s not easy like this. Interns are free labour and are not on the payroll. When you are permanent. You work long hours and under pressure. That’s why it pays so well. Been doing it 20 years.

How do you do it? I don’t mean to generalize but men in engineering are exceedingly sexist it’s crazy. And I know all men can be like this, but it’s the type of sexism you’d never find in the medical field from male doctors to female doctors. The horror stories I’ve heard and experienced from women in engineering/comp sci and how they had to prove and work twice as hard as men for the same job hurts. I’ve always loved programming and video game/graphic design but after seeing the way men in this field absolutely degrade women like nothing is highly discouraging to continue. They either completely sexualize us since many of them are porn addicts who can’t look at women as anything other than commodities made to relieve their fetishes, or they look at us as emotional and irrational sinkings off our gender, and showing too much emotion at work, we’re naturally deficient, illogical, and unintelligent. Tell them you feel uncomfortable going on a date with them when they’ve never even tried to notice you when you were working on a project together, and they start ranting to their trad male friends on reddit about how women are evil and shallow. Even if you rank the highest in the room and master every assignment you’re still just a women and a “distraction” to these guys. Medicine is a much better field for women. A room with 11 male doctors and 1 female doctor, the female doctor would still be respected, the male doctors would know she’s capable of doing her job, and she’d be given primal authority. It’s not the higher male to female ratio that’s the problem. It’s the engineering men. In a room of 11 male software engineers and 1 female software engineer, lest shes won the Mensa Foundation Prize, they’d all assume shes in dire need of “help” even when she knows what she’s doing just like everyone else in the room, or simply look at her as an object of desire.
