It's really wonderful to see a person that I can call my "teacher" have a healthy, organized schedule. Since I learned about unity about 3-4 years ago, I always dreamed myself in a life like yours in the future. Waking up early, working on game dev, going to gym, going to a walk with pets etc. Literally a perfect life I could ever ask for. Right now, I follow your tutorials everyday and been going to gym for around 4 months. This video was very motivational for me. These insights were extremely enlightening to me. And also reassuring that I am taking the right steps based on your routine (a person I look up to) ✨️ I had been struggling switching focus between tasks & time management. I notice that if I focus on something that I wake up out of my focus hours later without taking care of myself, and I might have lost myself in the details of something instead of making efficient progress. 🪨 That's why I applied going to a Café or Library to work there and the pomodoro method, and switch my surroundings every 4 pomodoro cycles. It really helps me. I ask myself every 25 minutes if I am not investing too much time on a single problem, stretch my legs, stay hydrated and socialize. 💡⏳️⚖️ But I still have a lot to optimize and learn, and this really helped me a lot on that journey. 🌄 Thank you for making this, and for everything. 🙏✨️

Thanks for the super thanks! I did try pomodoros quite some time ago, it was certainly an interesting way to work. The way that I take quite a lot of breaks is sort of the same idea, just not as rigid.

I wish you all the success with your upcoming launch 👍 I applaud you seeing how your lifestyle goes - and being so strict and serious about it. I am also remotely working developer, but I usually get so many distractions during the day, shaming myself all that time got wasted. I wish I had your consistency with managing life and work time 😉

Hey, I have a few question: How do you stay motivated to do the games you do? -I got tones of idea I'd like to create and become a self employed indie dev, but it seems too far away... Why did you start this path? Where you a developer or some kind of artist? How did you became that professional? I'd like to learn as much as I can.. I feel like I'm starting out of time to start my path in game development.
@CodeMonkeyUnity
@CodeMonkeyUnity 11 ай бұрын
The best answer is simply, I don't really rely on motivation, I define a plan and then I follow through, even on the days when I don't feel like it. One thing that helps is simply experience, my first game was really tricky to make, I was definitely being controlled by "motivation" at that point, but nowadays, this is my 9th Steam game, now it's simply a job. Today I was handling localization stuff on my game, definitely not fun, definitely don't want to do it, but it needs to be done so that's it I covered my game dev journey in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqvWlIOclLpkjLs

There's motivation, there's forcing through, and there's habit. I've been learning habit is really something. It can work for or against you. It's easy to underestimate, I think.

I would like to thank you for al of your tutorials and videos. I have used your free tutorials and purchased one also, and I respect so much your decision to support those who can and those who cannot afford tutorials. I was a software developer until 2009 when I had a nasty car accident, many years later I am trying to rekindle my desire to make my own games...and I have so many (what I believe) to be excellent game ideas. IF I ever manage to launch a game of my own, I will definitely include you in my thanks for making that happen. Best of British luck, health wealth and happiness from the UK.

Starts from live stream when we first saw your face and know your real name, than the videos with your face, than desk setup where we can see how famous CodeMonkey works and now we can see the Hugo Cardoso's daily routine. It's so cool to know more about you and not gonna lie, it's kinda motivated to push yourself through game dev journey and maybe get more organized about our game development. It would be cool to see more videos like this from time to time! Until next video, good luck with Dinky Guardians and CHEERS!

Wow, what an absolutely focused schedule. I know you take breaks but so much of your time spent (even with the breaks) focuses on game dev. Nothing wrong with that if it works for you. It's honestly really inspiring. I know there's no way I could adopt that schedule myself between a kid and other responsibilities (even as someone who is a stay-at-home dad) but I can see maybe a few areas in my day where I could make game dev a bit more of a focus even if I'm not directly in front of the computer doing game dev.

@@adamprokop I wouldn't say this is the case. There's plenty of people who run successful businesses but also have kids. Even people who our solo game developers that are successful and also have kids. It's definitely more difficult because of time commitments and the level of success will take longer to achieve but still doable. I guess it also depends on what success means for you which will further extend or shorten the amount of time it will take to reach that point.

5:16 what a god! I do the same! Video Speed Controller (and VLC speed control) changed my life since I discovered it in 2017. I also consume 2x-3x more videos/courses (and even Netflix) with that. Also it's crazy how similar our routines are. I don't work with games professionally, I have a backend development day job, but fully remote, so I also wake up at 6 and sleep at 21 30, sharp. So I have to juggle between the day job and game dev (and I also have 2 senior dogs and I'm moving from Denmark to Portugal by the end of the year!).
