I subscribed. This is very inspiring. I'm a Computer Science grad who is stuck. It's been 2.5 years since I graduated and not much luck getting a job. Any advice on a path to follow? Or the best stack to learn. Should I give up on web development (JS, Mern/Mean) and learn Java/PHP? Or SWE with C++? Thank you I really appreciate it.
@yourfriendintech2 сағат бұрын
That's a tough decision to make. Is most/all of your experience in web development? What would you pivot to? You should be familiar with the stack that corresponds to the software engineering roles you are applying for.

Cool video. But, as someone that has been in the IT market for almost 10 years this is one of the worst times I have ever seen. Almost no more jobs, and tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of very qualified people fired from big companies. So its carnage out there. Good luck!

I switched careers. Did an accelerated CS degree but I feel it didn't help much in me becoming a SWE. I feel I can code but, for example, I don't know how to make anything larger than a calculator app. I cannot look at a codebase and understand what's going on. Help please!? And Thank you.
@yourfriendintech4 күн бұрын
in my CS program, we were required to take software engineering classes to learn how to actually build and develop software. I would recommend doing the same! navigating a codebase is a skill that you can learn through practice and experience, but I'm sure there are equivalent online tutorials and classes that can help.

there are so many different career paths to become a software engineer, it's hard to recommend one without knowing more about you and your goals. with that said, here's one guide to help you get started bit.ly/google-tech-dev-guide

Hi Jon! Just finished watching your 2021 nyc day in a life video. It's so cool to see how things have changed now in San Francisco! Your videos are so inspiring I'm currently studying CS and would really appreciate it if you could review my resume whenever you have a chance. Let me know the best way to get in touch. Thanks so much for considering!:)
