I was the first patient that she ever put in an IV...She did it perfectly, and i told her to take a picture on her phone and text it to your mom... she did and she said "i did it".....her mom was so proud and happy...

the second you get the cannula in, ring the bell aka release the tourniquet, always helps me to remember to take it off at the appropriate time once its in :) I find with IV's its systematic for me. I have a routine that works for me and I use it every single time I put an iv in. good job! you did good:)

You definitely want a routine. Otherwise, you’ll be the nurse who people are talking about that left a tourniquet on their patient for 12 hours 😂 (not me...yet) but it’s definitely easy to forget about

It’s so great to see they teach you IV skills and priming tubes! I teach my new nurses on the floor how to do those! My nursing school never thought us how to..😱 learned everything on the floor. Im in the outpatient surgery center so we do about 15 IVs a day so you def will be used to it! If you enjoy IVs, you should work at ambulatory surgery centers like I do!!🤞

Question: how did you know for sure you wanted to go for nursing? I’m so indecisive regarding if nursing or physical therapy is the way to go but I just know what I want to do something regarding health care is the only thing I have right now.

I would do nursing. As a nurse there is so many different fields or i guess specialties you can choose and im pretty positive that physical therapy would be an option for a nurse specialty. At my old job there is an rn that works in the physical therapy department. If you study nursing and realize you do not like it well good news is you can do physical therapy as a nurse!

I graduated in May with BSN. It depends on how much time you want to put into school. If you don't mind doing more years of school then maybe PT won't be so bad. A lot of the prerequisites for any health major are similar at most schools. So start in one major and after the first year you might have a better idea. I would also recommend shadowing people in both career choices so you get a better understanding of what each one truly is like on a day to day basis. Do some research and don't stress too much about the decision. I'm starting out in inpatient rehab for my first job, so there are options for nursing in rehabilitation. I went into nursing initially on a whim. I only knew that I wanted a career in health care. But I chose correctly, stuck with it and now love what I do.

Go for nursing! I dont know alot about physical therapy but in nursing you have so much room to grow there are so many fields you can get into and you can get your masters for a very good paycheck and you can do things that doctors do

Oh my goodness that looks so scary but fascinating at the same time. As someone who was on dialysis for almost 11 years I had to inject myself some shots of for anemia in my stomach and I was always scared shaking my hands 😩🥺. I truly am afraid of needles 💉 but at the same time I wanted to pursue nursing but I was not sure if I would be able to cope with everything that I myself went through. It's the same for several school here as well. I think it depends on the state, as my school doesn't have us do IVs either. Apparently here the hospitals do your training for that. It would have been nice to get even a bit of experience with it before actaully becoming a nurse though.

I’m in my freshman year of intended nursing at ecu and this honestly made me so excited for nursing school ! So thank you! edit: fast forward to sophomore year... I got into nursing school!!! just got my uniform and excited to start clinicals in a couple of months! edit: i’m going into senior year. had a patient pass away on me this past year, it was too much so I dropped out of nursing. now im a public health major and I couldn’t be happier! to future nursing students… everything will work out even though it might not seem like it in the moment. 🫶🏼
