This is kind of a general question but I always wanted to ask this: You and your teammates are accomplished, high-standard athletes and the best the country has in volleyball. What type of practice benefits players in your level? I mean, when I was playing I was a regional 2nd division setter, which means improvement possibilities were vast. Plus we were amateurs, which meant we had daytime jobs etc. So we had to practice to keep up individually with ourselves. But for athletes in your level? OK I get that you must have body conditioning in order to keep up with the demanding schedule. But what about technique? Is there THAT much room for improvement? Is it REALLY that hard to keep your level of play once you 're up there? I mean, you already KNOW this stuff.... Or do practice sessions (both club and national team) focus mainly on tactics and teamwork? I hope you do not find my question too naive (we do hear that you must practice constantly), but I really want to hear that from an accomplished athlete perspective. Maybe you could do a video on that as well at some point. Greetings from Athens, Greece.

that’s a great question! I think there is always room for improvement but sometimes it is hard to make changes as we get older. BUT, we are constantly working on technique, tactics, systems, and team play in order to try and be our best in the matches! the practice never ends no matter where you are. it’s part of the fun!

In highschool they call double touch on a set with to much rotation on the ball and when i was watching vnl they don’t call it so i’m wondering if double touch on a set is only a highschool volleyball thing

No, it’s just the general rules. If the ball spins when you set it then it generally means it was a double touch (one hand hit the ball before the other) I’m not sure why it wasn’t called in Vnl though

I got that confusion too. The announcer during vnl once commented that referees now have mostly all the decision on this, so it's totally up to them to call or not.

Wow! Loved this video! Nice to know your routine as a USA volleyball player! In Brazil it's a bit different. There is a place where the national team stays and pratices (it's located in Saquarema, in the state of Rio de Janeiro). So the players actually live there during the week and come back home in the weekend. It's huge and very beautiful. In instagram there are many photos and videos. Check on cbvolei profile!
