I also prefer chapters without titles! The one exception I can think of is Percy Jackson just because those chapter titles are so funny lmao. Also what you said about historical fiction and having to search so many things was so funny but also so relatable, even writing fantasy Im googling the most insane things lmao. If anyone saw my search history they’d be like…. R u ok? Lol

I feel like writing vs researching is just an endless struggle 😂 I feel like Google is my coworker and all I do all day long is poke my head in her office to bug her 😅😂

In my current wip I am returning back to chapter titles. I think they are fun and adds a whimsy, especially if you make them fun!

I don't think I've ever liked chapter titles lol 😅 But I don't mind seeing 'em! Seeing this vlog makes me wanna try doing writing sessions throughout the day instead of just one huge one at 2am 😭 It seems soooo much healthier to sustain!

Yes you should try multiple sessions throughout your day! I find that I’m not a writing at night person, so midday it is for me 😂

I LOVE chapters titles, and use them in my writing. I think it is great fun to craft one which gives one impression at the beginning of the chapter, but reveals a different meaning by the end of the chapter. Can I do that every time? Of course not, but it is a thrill to pull it off.

I like that version! I will say that sometimes I feel like the chapter titles are more for the author than the reader 😅

@@nataliejaneshields I definitely wouldn't do them if I didn't enjoy them. They are my fun bonus. But I do think it helps in searching for the chapter you want in the front of e-books, if for some reason your device didn't open in the right spot. How can I remember between Chapter 16 or Chapter 17? But between To Overcome Such Affection and Take One's Moment? Then I know where I am. 🙂

Hi Natalie. Can i ask which editor you use to write in? I'm not really gelling with Readsy, it's free but maybe it's time to upgrade. Also, it's nice I'm not the only writer who procrastinates first and writes second 😅

I wonder if the chapter title trend is in part due to the popularity of serial fiction. I tend to see chapter titles there.
