Go Girl!!! I spent 20 yrs on the flightline. Dcc of F15C #530 as a Vampire, and 2 Dmodel's when I psc'd back to states. Kept short hair because back then we had to keep it up, no FOD hazards allowed and always had hydro fluid in it anyway. Worked swings most time, slamming JFS's and CGB's and hydro pumps. No shorts back then, our uniforms were a mess, we always wore out the knees. I was swings expeditor when I retired. I was the only female most of the time, so I can relate, but I know you can and will persevere. I am so proud to see you guys doing what you do!!. Thank You for your service.

That’s awesome! I was on C & D models in Japan and loved it! Sounds like nothings changed over the past 20 yrs, they always break for the same thing! Always a jfs, cgb, or a Nose wheel steering issue lol! But thank you I appreciate that! And thank YOU for your service as well!

I’m so excited for you!! I was a little intimated/nervous too, but mostly excited! I think you will end up loving it! Just keep a good attitude and try to stay positive when it gets hard. Most days won’t be easy but it’s definitely a rewarding job and the people you work with will become your family.❤️ Feel free to DM any time if you ever need advice or have any questions!

What is the reasoning behind using a speed drill vs using a battery powered drill to drive all of the fasteners? This is something I have noticed on several maintainer videos. Awesome video by the way!!

Thank you! Our career field doesn’t authorize us to use power tools on the flight line. Some career fields are, but as crew chiefs speed handles are what we’re issued and we can only use what we’re issued. Power tools would definitely make life a lot easier though😅

You can work at any airport, there are contracted jobs as well on base even after you get out! You can work for Boeing, & Lockheed Martin. If you get your Airframe and Power-plant license (which I recommend because the Airforce actually pays for the course for you) then you can apply for any aviation jobs on the outside or power plant/job that works with jet engines!

I was AR Shop/Crash Recovery in the late 70s at Osan. Any time we got ZZ birds(RF-4C in those days) in bound we knew there would be at least 1 IFE. Just from listening to you it sounds like they've cleaned up their act since then. That was the best job I ever had, mostly due to the overseas comradery you mentioned. I went on to crew 130s then retired in '98 as a Shirt. Good on you for what you do every day. Keep 'em flying.
