Not sure if it's just me, but the video seems to freeze during certain parts. Audio still plays fine, but it just pauses and skips forward like it's buffering (happens in same spots if i play it back). Doesn't seem to be an issue when you're on camera.

😂 So funny... People don't understand how warm his coat is, and how well- suited he is to the cold, snowy weather. I had a German shepherd (also double coat), and she loved to be outside no matter how frigid it was. She would just lay down on the ice in the driveway and take a nap 🙄 I miss her every day. She lived nearly 17 years ❤️

@chazdellwalker6912
@chazdellwalker6912 Жыл бұрын
@@Moths000 I know that what usually causes reactions is a protein or enzyme found in cat's saliva. All cats are different and produce different amounts of it. I don't always have a reaction either. For example if my own cat that I'm used to licks me, though the one I have now rarely does, I'm fine but mostly when I'm introduced to a new cat and they do it it may cause a reaction. Once at a pet store a kitten grabbed me with claws and left a scratch which itched a lot. I assumed it was from the cat leaving saliva on the claws when cleaning. I had never been scratched by a cat I didnt own and had never had that reaction before. The hair with saliva on it always gives me a reaction if I mess with the cat too much though...my hands can itch from petting but normally it's my eyes and nose that's affected. I think since they clean themselves so often the saliva is concentrated on the hair.

Hey Morgan! Just a quick thought on the cattle yard: I don't think just driving the posts 2 feet into the ground will be enough if they are supposed to hold the heavy and constantly moving(!) doors. You should dig a pretty big hole for the posts and fill them with concrete (with the posts in them of course). This will be more work now but it is a way better job to do in the summer and without having the cattle in there yet. Making a concrete foundation for posts or even street signs, which only have to withstand the wind, is general practice (at least in Europe) to make sure they stay in place and safe even in really wet conditions. Love your content, Greetings from Germany :)

Hey I'm sure you thought of this, but for fence weaning you will need strong fences, so if you dont have them set up by weaning time, you could try weaning flaps. They work on a small scale and are just plastic flaps that go into the calfs nose ( not pierced in) and basically block the teat of the cow from going into the calfs mouth so they cant nurse, but still allow the calf to eat and drink normally.

Absolutely love the ground level camera that the cattle walked over. What a great perspective! It so sweet the cattle are letting you handle them more. You are patient and have been steadily desensitizing them to being around people and being touched. That in itself would be a great video about their progression since they arrived. Good to see your strategic thinking about the winter cattle yard. Looking forward to seeing that video. Thanks!

Morgan, get your wife to grow carrots in containers (15 gal recycling bins from HomeDepot work really well). They need loose soil anyway so you'll likely be buying good soil and not wasting on the ground. You can also start them earlier indoors and take them outdoors when it's warm enough. Harvesting = pouring them out onto a tarp and then recovering that precious good soil.
@lunerwerewolf

I tried this this year unfortunately the weather here in OR kept flipping between snow / very cold weather and 105 days. So all of the carrots in containers bolted
@deed5811

Agree! Carrots grow better when the soil isn't compacted. Lots of plants do actually. I had a Genovese basil in my brand new square foot garden one year that grew almost 5 feet tall. It was only supposed to grow to 2 feet, but loose soil let it grow better.
@theurzamachine
@theurzamachine 2 жыл бұрын
@@lunerwerewolf at least you'll have seed for next year. My mistake this year was that I harvested one batch way too early (after 100 days) because the packet said they should be ready by 75 days. What the packet info really meant was that if you want baby carrots, that is when you harvest.

Morgan, it was great to see lovely Allison and the abundance of the vegetable garden. Yes, certain vegetables, such as cucumbers, are water-based vegetables, and do need more water than other vegetables. The new hoop coop looks like it will be a success. Buying a kit rather than individual components does have its advantages. Abby Girl sure loves to run along side the ATV while you're driving it. I love how she sprints along like a greyhound.

As an older person I grow the few cucumbers I have in large planters instead of the garden. And put them near my house.Makes it easier to water them. The sides of the container keep the water near the plants instead of spreading out.The planters are large enough to put a small trellis in for the vines.They grow much better for me.And since cucumbers grow vertically more than horizontally they don’t need a lot of space.

As for that pond you have for the birds and how it's always green and gross, have you looked into turning it into an organic pond/eco pond? Some of them use liners, some don't, but having plants and things to help keep it clean and a water pump would definitely work out in the long run. There's no chemicals to it and they're pretty easy to maintain in the long run if built correctly. I'd been watching some videos from OzPonds and they show you how it's built though I'm sure you can find other youtube videos to show you how to make it yourself!

i may be the minority but i like the longer videos. makes me feel like im there more and i just like seeing the animals and hear you talk about stuff. i understand why all the videos arent this long thought because that would take like 3x longer to edit. still like em tho!

I got the ID3 last year and my dad followed suit and got the ID4 - have to say LOVE them. Such a nice smooth ride, cars well put together and it’s been so much cheaper than my previous petrol cars. No idea why people would go off about them 🤷🏽‍♀️

Great video. This is your sweet spot. All your stuff is really good. But you may get too cautious about “people don’t just want to see me doing chores every day - there has to be a story.” If you’re ruminating and reflecting, your chores are gold

Toby is most definitely more of a bird dog, and Abbey is most definitely more of a cattle dog. And that's great seeing Abbey find her place on the farm. It's 45 degrees this morning, gee wonder where the flies went, lol. Morgan, that multiple can wrap fly paper setup is excellent way to cut down on the swarms you get in the height of summer, but it's no longer the height of fly laying season man. You're not cutting down on the fly population, nature is deciding when the swarms hit. As it will again next summer.

Morgan, Buck probably has bumble foot, he got something in his foot and it has abcessed around it. you will need to get him up, find the spot, squeeze the gunk, if it healed over you may need to use a blade and open it (lance), have tweezers handy as you will have either a core of what is left of what caused it to pull out or a foreign body to pull out. irrigate it with saline, use clotting powder if needed and some salve. you can't close the wound becuase it is the type that will re abcess if you do so you just need to give it a spray of a good chicken disinfectant spray once a day to make sure it is clean for a few days until you get some granulation inside of it, it will be fine to heal once the inner tissue has granulated. it wont take long. Still saying boooooo on the electric car, its a total woke narrative farce sorry but it is true, not angry but child slavery, severe devistating earth rape and toxic any thing that touches it dies, it kills millions of animals a year- lithium fields iand that electricity still comes from oil/gas/coal in the end. do some research instead of being surprised how angry people were and find out the truth about how bad it actually is and how it is in no way any better at all and potentially when you weigh it all out it is actually far worse, eithically and morally for sure and probably even worse envirmentally. especially child slavery. that's all, I doubt ppl were angry so much as surprised becuase we all know how intelligent you are and how much research you take the time to do on renewable farming it is almost a similar situation in regard to renewable resources that everyone was shocked you didn't know the truth about it. please just do the research on each of the topics people brought up. Question; how come you wet all your kibble for the cats and dogs? you need to think of the teeth. you are going to end up with some hefty dental bills if you don't feed any of your kibble dry my friend.

they don't need dry kibble. he wets the kibble to improve their water intake for hydration, probably my guess. they chew stuff all day long if you're worried about their teeth, and morgan takes them to their vet fairly often now so if their teeth bothered them or hurt or something, the vet would probably catch it on those visits.

Add a french drain system from the hoop coop to the pond. then later run an underground line from the spring. you can slightly dam the spring. just consult with a conservationist to make sure it does harm the environment

When you said it was in the 40's this morning, I just wished. Down here in Texas, will get back up to the low-90's today, with sauna-like humidity. Other areas have gotten good rains and may come out of drought, but not here. My garden was toast this year. Getting started on my fall/winter garden, now. Love your giant hoopcoop! Looking forward to seeing it finished. I'm building a small one 10x16, out of cattle panels for a winter greenhouse. Our average high in winter is 40's-50's. Also planning out where I can put a pigpen to grow out a couple to split with my neighbor. On my agenda this fall is to rebuild the run on my chicken coop. Chicken wire has rusted out and I'm tired of ducking under and hitting my head on the supports of the 5' tall run. Going to have a grow-out area for chicks (snake-proof) and an area to grow out roos to start processing my own birds. Doing this all by myself, so I understand prioritizing jobs.

It threw me for a loop when Morgan said there’s a nip in the air and fall is coming soon. Where I live, we’re still in the depths of summer. At 6am it’s already in the 90°s and by midday easily in to the triple digits. We probably won’t see autumn-like temperatures beginning until around Halloween (if not later). But 42° morning temps would be full-on winter for us and last year when Morgan was in deep snow, it was still 80° here. It always amazes me the wide array of temperatures and climates in just one country.

So enjoying your daily round - totally agree about the coffee - I have 1 cup a day to start my day and I really savour it - I only want the single cup though - if I make more it inevitably ends up sitting in the cup till I toss it When my dog got to be 12 she started having problems jumping on the bed, I gave her glucosamine cause I was taking it - I would just open up the capsule over her food and it made a big difference- within a week, she was jumping on the bed I did try the dog treat version first and it didn’t seem to make a difference, but just straight from the capsule did help

Tip for Allison. To keep slugs snails or other bugs outta your veggie patches. Put salt around the outside edges of your boxes or around the plants themselves if growing directly on the ground.

Let Beanie move with the group to the pasture. The fencing is only secure for cattle, the birds can and do move around a little, that way Beanie will have access to the pond and can choose over time which flock to join.
