They’re illegal in California so I would never be able to have one but in terms of of my hours (I’m retired & am awake from about 10:30-11:30 AM, so I’m going to bed around 3:00-4:0 0 AM). Holy carp. Is that a double double CN cage? More? You have a small fortune in that set up. Wow. I got my DCN cage for $100 plus $20 delivery, Used, like new, from my breeder. Its still going strong.
@pattiesmith61933 жыл бұрын
I am getting a sugar glider. In three months after that, I will get a playmate for him. I am buying from a private breeder so it is not from the mills that are so bad for the little guys. Do you put anything like a small panty liner in their pouch to absorb the urine and maybe keeping the poop less of a nasty mess? I would love your input on this!! I have watched so many of your videos! Watching your boys remind me of mine. I had two. I learn so much from you! Thank you for making the efforts to help us glider-rookies learn to be good parents. I have everything set up along with foraging toys as well as nice a snuggly bed and a few hammocks. Do you any of the ball explorers. 😉😊
@sugargliderdiaries3 жыл бұрын
Congratulations snd great job planning and researching 😊. You will not want to put anything except fleece in the pouch as those pants can be harmful if ingested. Most gliders Don’t make a habit of peeing in their pouch as they are very clean animals. I do have a runabout but you don’t want to get a hamster ball. I have a video about this too 😊
@pattiesmith61933 жыл бұрын
@@sugargliderdiaries thank you for responding and letting me know. I have not bought the exercise wheel yet, but it is on the shopping list. It will be the one that does not have hazards for their tails and little feet. Would they use the habit-trails that hamsters and small animals use? I saw some larger cages that had them built in. I have bought enough fleece fabric to make the bonding pouches with the mesh and zippers. We had been waiting for me to get the glider until I had his cage habitat all set up so it will not be as stressful fir him. I sew so it will be really easy for me to get the pouches put together. Also, the breeder that I had made arrangements with to buy my glider went to visit family and all caught the delta strain of covid. I am not only worried about her family’s welfare. She is a nurse and had the shots and said it was like the flu x 1000! Can the small gliders become ill with this virus? I had not heard from her for over a week, and I am growing increasingly concerned. However if she is critically ill or has a family member who is, I know getting the glider to me is the last thing on her mind. Do you have any more suggestions for me? I welcome any guidance from you! 😊

I was actually wondering if morning crabbing was normal even after 2 out of my 3 seem pretty bonded. Seems to be a lot less of the crabbing though. They settle down pretty good in the pouch though after the initial “wake up” - your Stella is very much like my Yogi. Very chill. No complaining, lots of snuggles, very sweet. My little problem child is Daisy... lol.

@@Graoth I said they settle down in the pouch?? My original comment was “I was actually wondering was normal even after 2 out of my 3 seem pretty bonded” - I don’t have a problem it was actually going along with what she said in the video about how hers will crab when waking up - which they do - which one or two of mine do - I never said they continue to do it? I’m so confused as to why you are commenting to me like this lol of course I talk to them, I come in and do all their cage stuff then I take them out, any crabbing has nearly stopped except with 1, but they are all different and it’s taking her a little longer to bond, she settles in pouch fine. I dunno why you are continuing to comment to me I’m not having a problem lol

To help them keep a natural healthy weight perhaps try keeping them on their normal wild diet...which certainly won’t include yogurt, which is an unnatural man made food not found in nature. The problem with is the combination of high fat and high sugar in the same food...this could be what’s upsetting his metabolism to gain weight. Looks like you have lots of whole food which is good, but if you’re using prepackaged treats, then watch out as they may contain poor food choices. As with human food always read the ingredients & nutrition label to make sure it meets your diet strategy.

Off topic, but not really: Toy soldiers are no fun unless you are burning and melting them and blowing them up with firecrackers in your sandbox right next to your crabby, anti social neighbors. All totally UNSUPERVISED, of course. Then, some uncle would bring up an entire BOX of real M-80's from one of the Carolinas. We all passed the Charles Darwin test. No blown off body parts. Those we had to ride down by the creek to use. Too loud even for our neighborhood. Idle home construction sites with "dirt piles" were put to good use on the weekends. We had plastic Nazi helmets and realistic looking plastic battery driven M-14's. No problem back then. Different world back then. Lancaster, PA Ah, the childhood of the mid 1960's.... We solely funded a lot of toy soldier companies. We needed constant replacements of the troops. Lots of battle damage.

Hmm maybe im wrong but none of your sugar gliders look really bounded. Probalby becouse you dont have them from really young. Im not expert throught.

“Bonded” is a term thrown around. At the minimum it means that they trust you. All of my gliders trust me but they don’t all want to be held in my hand. Stellaluna will fall asleep in my hand but her temperament is more chill.
@sugargliderdiaries3 жыл бұрын
I have been thinking about this comment for a bit now. I am wondering what you consider “really bonded” and what exactly you think that would look like. I think it is important for people to understand that every glider has their own personality and it is not a competition of who has the most attached or snuggly glider. The important thing is that the gliders are happy, healthy and well taken care of 😊

@@sugargliderdiaries I dont know why you are so moved by my comment. Of course health and well being of your pet shoud be on first place. Whatever its sugar glider or rat. And i dont say anything about well being of your pets. They look healthy. And yes there are diference in character of any animal. There is nothing wrong or bad in your relation with gliders. So i really dont see point of you being defensive about what i said. I had pair of glider who were rescured from bad ppl. They starded from hateng me, ended with barerly tolerating me. They were raised bad and wasnt young enought to completle repair their behavior in 4-5 month i had them. In other hand i now have little male glider who was born in my house from the pair i mentioned. And his bound with me shocks me almost everyday. Im not human, for him am really big sugar glider.
