DAY IN THE LIFE Working at an AMAZON Warehouse - Inside Footage.
Amazon warehouse UK
Hey guys this is my day in the life on an amazon warehouse worker, working at an amazon fulfilment centre. I wanted to show you inside footage of what it is like to work in the amazon warehouse.
My intent for this video was to be educational to these new employees. Amazon's employee retention rate is well known for being extremely low. Because of this, I wanted to show what an Amazon warehouse job actually entails. This video will allow potential employees to decided whether this job is a good fit for them instead of experiencing the job and quitting 2 days later.

@@petronelacodreanu6274 Unfortunately, genders seem to be a thing of the past or just made up to some people. I do get the sentiment that there are weak men and strong women but gender/sex can be relevant and does sometimes need to be taken into account. On a side note I have noticed that a certain task rarely get assigned to females. Sometimes it seems that females get prioritised for another task. Taller, stronger and faster men seem to get priority on a certain task too. I guess whatever the person is good at or suited to is where they try and put the people. If you good at something you’ll find yourself put on that task again and again. If your bad at something you’ll find that your rarely asked to do that task again if it can be avoided. (If you find yourself doing the same role everyday and are getting bored, tired or fancy a change mention it to a supervisor.) A lot of people seem willing help each other, you just have to ask sometimes. I have seen men helping women but also women helping men. Just work to the best of you capabilities and at my place they seem to gauge if your intentionally slacking or genuinely trying your best. As I read somewhere else, leverage the fact that your worst is someone else’s best. Just don’t be the worst.

At one of the warehouses here in the US, they use ONLY PIT - The Cherry Picker/High Reach to pick and stow items and some of those items are really heavy and you have to go up, like 4 stories to pick and stow items/boxes. It's really brutal on the mind and body because you are doing that for 10 hours with two 20 minutes breaks and ONLY a 30 minutes lunch. If you work 40 hours a week, imagine the soreness, the loneliness, the tiredness etc etc. Amazon WILL NEVER change and what matters to them is - $$$$$$$. So it's a job that one does short-term to gain some income and move on.

You can save some money especially if you do night shift, and if i was 18 i would be living at home and paying a fraction of a normal rent and then you can really start to save! 2. Reason number 2 is probably the most important, this job will give you perspective of what a bad working environment can be like! So when you leave, you will go into your next job and love it, and that perspective will stay with you! Let me know how you get on with it mate, and good luck.

I worked at amazon and quit within a week, absolute torture and i'm 21 and healthy so i cant imagine how unfit people work here....for people asking if Amazon is a good place to work just ask yourselves why Amazon is like the number 1 company in the world for staff turnovers? Amazon could fire 50 people and they know 100 more will be waiting to join its why they can afford to work you hard and have high targets that are barely even reachable, 160 items an hour it seems in the US but UK is 180 items and they're talking about increasing this to 200! only good thing is pay but you'll be treated like cattle and if you fail to hit hourly targets you'll just be sacked, worst job i ever applied for....i seen mixed reviews and fell for it, also be aware they can rotate you around whenever they want! i applied for packing boxes and one day was put on forklift driving and all sorts and i wasn't even trained for it! safe to say it didn't go so well..another reason i left, seems US warehouses don't make you wear a uniform?

I start on the 11th but I’ve been doing very hardcore research. I pretty much get paid the same as Amazon 15.60, just a 30 cents difference where I am… I’m kinda thinking of sticking with this and not going to Amazon… I just like that Amazon has set shifts (I’m supposed to be Wednesday-Saturday 7-5:30pm) but then again I’m like ehhh idk… it wouldn’t be my first factory job, but I see so many negative reviews working there… I’m really on the fence on if I should just stay where I am for now, or give it a try..

Good job you don’t do warehouse work in Lidl, they expect ludicrous pick rates in every area. For example Fruit & Veg, most boxes are 15-25kg each and they expect a pick rate of 235 per hour, now imagine doing that for 5-6 hours straight sometimes 1-2 weeks on the bounce. They also expect big pick rates of 200+ in Chiller, Freezer, Ambient, Bulk, Non-Food etc I find it backbreaking work and I’m a former Personal Trainer in good shape and strong and find it seriously fatiguing!!! So basically amazon are a joke with all their workers. I used to be a delivery driver and it was unreal what they expected. 170-180 drops a day. You literally do not have time for a break, I used to start in the morning and keep going until I finished just to be able to get it done. And that's a 8-10 hour day. And once you finish they make you go and help someone else who might be struggling. If you take even just a 10 min break it puts you behind by a lot. No toilet breaks so you WILL be pissing in a bottle throughout the day. Dunno how the ladies manage. And some of the routes are ridiculous. They expect you to drive a 3.5t van up tiny little country roads barely big enough for a car. Then when a car comes the opposite way, well.... you're 💩 outta luck. Same thing with delivering to some of these rich people houses in the country with driveways a mile long, then when you get to the house there's no where to turn your big van around. 😡 All that kinda stuff takes up a lot of time and makes you slower but do your bosses care? Do they heck. They phone you and moan and moan. Plus you have to follow the speed limit at all times and your speed, braking, steering and phone use is all recorded. So basically it's impossible. You're supposed to knock the customers door, wait for them to answer and hand them their parcel. But in reality there literally is no time to do that and that's exactly why people get their parcels dumped on their doorstep. It's not because the drivers are lazy twats it's because they're seriously overworked and just don't have the time to wait for every customer to get up and answer the door. I was one of those drivers that would wait for every customer because I just couldn't bring myself to dump peoples parcels on their doorstep. And it made me have to work even harder and it was too much so I quit. Oh and if you are caught dropping someone's parcel on their doorstep you get fired. You never get bonus because it doesn't go by individual performance it goes by company performance. So basically you could work your nuts off all month and you still won't get bonus because a few people in your company didn't perform well 😡 absolute joke! Oh and you HAVE to ask for I.D for every single age verification parcel (alcohol etc) even if the customer is 90 years old!!! You still have to ask which again, takes up time waiting for the old man who can barely walk go and find his wallet and I.D. Smh. Not only do you feel like a right tit asking old people for I.D but you feel mean for making them struggle. Edit - I also now have Tendonitis in both feet and have a bad knee from being an amazon delivery driver.

@Janik Bily it’s ridiculous and that’s why that company’s turn over of staff is high.

That’s why they don’t accept mobile phones on site then . I applied via Adecco Amazons shambolic recruitment agency . Recruitment process also a nightmare , I waisted over 2 hours of my life applying for a job one job that somehow turned into two job applications. First job I received a contract of employment, I turned down two over job opportunities as I thought I had a job offer having received an offer of employment contract then a week later was told I was not accepted . Then two weeks later after starting a new job I had Adecco email me about a start day for this other job. An absolute farce . Amazons Adecco employment agency messed me around far to much . It’s also an uncaring government that allows this sort of slave employment and shambolic employment agency’s to flourish .
