I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or whenever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. it is WILD how a PE job is quite literally just like any other job. It's so coveted and quite literally just for the salary and the "prestige" (which is driven by its salary). PE firms could hire 15 percent more and pay 30-40 percent less and achieve the EXACT same results.

Were you rejected several times? It's coveted because they choose best of the best who is a shark and own their portfolio. My brother worked for two. He got scouted away from the first one. He managed several companies and CEOs of those companies answered to HIM because he represented the owners. He made a 💩 ton of money and retired at age 38. Took a year off and started consulting because he got bored and because his previous contacts wanted to talk with him.

My sister did an internship at blackstone during the summer and even then, the position is not guaranteed, they usually employ students from Cambridge, LSE, Harvard, U Penn and Northwestern. But if you have invest banking experience for two -three years, you can apply for an analyst position at blackstone. Also you probably need to study either econ or finance to stand a good chance in getting into the industry. @@CAPITAL_ONE

Do lots of leadership roles at school, being co-chair of sth or organise a regional event for firm recruitment. And do at least 1-2 investment banking internships. You can do real estate or any related similar field in a firm. Be extremely driven and never procrastinate. One thing my sister never does is procrastinate or be lazy. “Complacent” she calls it.

Yes 8am is the usual for a rookie intern. I also recommend dressing very nice like suite pants and white collared shirt imo. You are really trying to dress to impress and show you are committed. If I were guess it was an exit opp. Private equity usually ran by people with prior IB or finance experience. I'd imagine it's uncommon for someone to step into these roles right out of undergrad but I could be wrong.
