never heard this version before. Extraordinary! First of many songs I had the pleasure of writing with the late Bobby Womack.

The most amazing thing about Leo is that in his homeland, he's relatively unknown ....given that he's got to be one of their top soul R&B singers of all time, It's hard to believe.

This was recorded at Leos' farewell concert at the Republic Hotel in Hobart in 2010 (I think). Leo had heart problems requiring surgery and has since returned home to live in New Zealand but he comes back to Tassie to visit his kids. I don't know if he's playing anymore. He was one of my best friends and I sure do miss him.

I was in the music game for decades and Leo was the best that I have seen in that time. I worked with him in Hobart in a band called " Leo de Castro and the Cuban Heels. " aptly named being a country band. He loved George Jones and the like, and put his soul into the music. Sadly though, there wasn't enough work around to last. He did solo gigs for a while after that. I missed his farewell at the Republic as I was working on the mainland at the time.

Can you share the Cuban Heels music with Leo singing country even if versions aren’t produced as studio generated? How can they be put on you tube for others to enjoy.

Fell in love with Leo's awesome soul singing way back at the end of the Sixties (maybe 1970?)....when he used to sing with a very cool house band at Mojo's nightlcub in Auckland - the band including the late Claude Papesch on organ. There were so many crap/average singers on the NZ hit parade...but here was this guy who (as others have said here), was virtually unknown in NZ....but was an incredible singer. Could do way better than simply doing justice to Otis Redding (That's How Strong My Love Is), Four Tops (Loving You Has Made My Life Sweeter Than Ever)....and Aretha (Do Right Woman). After so many years it's pretty cool to see/hear clips here from what he did in Aussie for so many years. Hope he's all good.

The great soulful vocal talents of New Zealand's own Kiwi Leo de Castro Kino froemrley of the Dallas Four but never recorded in New Zealand. All his action was in Australia with King Harvest, The Johnny Rocco Band etc. Bib Beat Muisic however has a couple of more recent CDs including Long White Clouds

This video popped up just now. Such powerful voice. Always will remember Leo waiting outside the Tasmanian Inn Hotel in Hobart waiting for the pub to open on a Monday late 2000's whilst knocking off from work only to advise him that they did not open on Mondays.
