DAY OF DAYS AT THE BAY (w 3 WSL Pros) - 20 March 🤯 Ericeira 🇵🇹 [PART-1]

Locals called it the 'Best of the decade', for sure conditions were absolutely surreal with silky cylinders running down the point! It's no wonder that pros were flocking to the bay (Ericeira area, WSR 🇵🇹) including current World #1, Kanoa Igarashi. On that note, who do you think got the best barrels between Kanoa, Leo and Kikas? It's a thoroughly protected area thus I assume the logistics would be a nightmare and no contests are ever held there... plus, it's a win-win for everyone as I do believe some spots should be preserved and looked after just the way they are. I know I might sound kind of hypocritical coming from the guy who posted the video but hey... It is what it is 🤙🏻

@@ericeirarawsurf fair enough, just think that supertubos doesn't represent the potential of Portugal surfing. Every year is kind of the same crap conditions. It's not exciting for who is watching and doesn't make anyone keen to do a surf trip to Portugal. Taking into consideration that tourism is very important for the local economy.

This year was kinda unlucky as far as swell timing.. it had been pretty much firing for 2 weeks straight till just about the day before the comp. And then, they had to cut it short cause the next incoming swell was absolute trash, super close, stormy and onshore. Win some, lose some 🤷‍♂️ But anyways Portugal is waaaaay more than just supertubos or even here at this spot. There's an extreme variety within a 25km radius around the WSR

@@ericeirarawsurf but they did run a comp there in the 80ies as I recall. I camped on the cliffs there in 1977-78 and been back three times since then .. this doesn't look like it ... should be a section one third of the way in but it's always changing I guess ..
