Our Visual Investigations team synchronized and mapped thousands of videos of the U.S. Capitol riot to provide the most complete picture to date of what happened on Jan. 6 - and why. This was a massive team effort over six months, involving resources from across the Times newsroom. I will never forget how I felt seeing this on live tv. I was so numb to trump, to Covid, to the George Floyd protests, the never ending horrible news every single day dealing with trump. I just lost a brother recently who was a diehard trump supporter. He sat in front of the tv listening to all of this and there was no talking to him. If you tried he'd close his mind, hold up his hand and say, "I'm not listening!". And it was true, he wasn't. He wasn't healthy and he was in a constant state of hysteria always yelling at the tv when he heard something he didn't want to believe all the while just soaking up conservative media constantly pushing misinformation mostly for ratings. I miss him. I miss the brother who for most of his life was a friendly, helpful guy with a big heart. A guy who finished his life hating anything that didn't match his beliefs.
