Each year I set myself the challenge of creating something for Halloween, its a personal challenge that offers me the opportunity to do something I wouldn't normally do.
I've wanted to create a piece inspired by the face painting techniques I've see done to celebrate the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos), I hope my piece does it justice.
Happy Crafting

I adore Halloween!! Last year we had just under 200 kids and 8 dogs (I have a basket of puppy treats too). I set up on the driveway so no doorbell needed. I built a casket to lay in and my husband was the creepy undertaker, he let me know when to raise my dead hand so the kids had to take the candy from me. Lots of screams! This year's scarecrow and creepy farmer should be fun.

We have gone from 70 trick-or-treaters to zero over the past several years. The schools, fire houses, and shopping malls make the treat gathering much safer for our little ones. A very interesting project. Thanks.

Halloween here in the states has become HUGE. It never used to be. It used to be for the kids, trick n treating. Now, it’s the adults. Actually it’s more adults than kids holiday. Our yard decorations are so extravagant, more so than even Christmas in our area. I’m not sure how or when this change happened , but it’s bigger every year. 😳👻🎃💀☠️🏴‍☠️. I love your skull a lot

What a great time I had watching you create this beautiful mask! I wanted to skip to the end so I could see the finished piece, but I waited, lol. I loved the dots. My mother-in-law used to color black and white pictures with oils if they had been printed on sepia paper. She did one for me and painted the eye lashes with toothpicks. It was incredible. You just never know what you can achieve if you just take a chance. I am so glad you do that for us. I really thought your "start over" was a great way for us to learn how to fix our projects if we need to. You truly are magical!! Thanks Ceri. Blessings.

You are offering your time and insights and creative process for free. Who is telling you you can't pause the video when needed or speed it up through less interesting parts? Just don't explain too much because it's perfectly fine to do so. I'm used to watching heavily edited videos to the point where they become jumpy, so I'm not bothered at all 🤣. And that are videos where people just talk into the camera. The mask has turned out so beautiful!! 😍 And you've even done research with that other skull, which is the sign of a true artist in my mind. Halloween is still not a thing in the Netherlands, despite attempts by the advertising world. 'Under the rivers' (in the South of the Netherlands) we've got the largest population of catholics. They tend to celebrate Saint Martinus on 11. November with going door to door and singing carols for sweets. They're main feature is to carry a lit a lantern and not dressing up. Where I live it isn't as much of a custom, but the elementary schools my children attended always paid attention to it with making lanterns and telling the story of St Martinus. Now, with changing demographics and diverse ethnicities, I haven't had a child at my door at St Martinus or any other day for over 6 years now. It's a pity. There isn't an equivalent for it in islam and there aren't enough jews, hindus or sikhs here to elevate an other celebration to local tradition.

Halloween is originated in europe before the christians and it wasn't called halloween it was called "samhain". The people were used to live with the nature and samhain was the last day of the year. Everything in nature was "dead". At this time the plants weren't growing anymore, most of the animals were going to or were preparing their winter break, everything possible/edible was harvested. The doors between the worlds were open and the people celebrated thankfully the dying year for all what they got and asked/hoped for a upcoming good new year.

The shops were closed 3 days ago, but are open now. Schools are advised to be open. I hope you also realize that the reach of this channel is way beyond the British borders, where the death of queen Elizabeth is but a blip on the radar. Something that will fill daytime television. I do acknowledge the queen's hardships of the past few years. Prince Andrew implicated with Jeffrey Epstein, prince Harry marrying and under the influence of Meghan Markle, her husband Philip dying only last year, the 25th anniversary of princess Diana's unfortunate death and all the ludicrous conspiracies flaring up again. But national mourning for a monarch isn't quite of this age anymore.

Actually sugar skulls and masks are a way to honor the departed and to celebrate their life . They are used as a way to lift the departed one to the spirit world and release those behind from their grief. Masks are used in many cultures to celebrate death of a departed one. Its a rich tradition. If you have watched Ceris videos for a while then you know he has a very real reverence and respect for the queen and in fact created a collage page while talking about her a few months ago. I respect your grief over the passing of the Queen and would never imagine to tell you or anyone how to grieve. I am so sorry for the loss of a brilliant, charismatic woman, Queen Elizabeth. She will live on forever in the hearts and minds if the world.

I’m sorry but this video was scheduled over a month ago and to be honest I’d not even thought of that as my thoughts have been with the royal family and the changes that the country will go through. I feel its too late to take the video down now but thank you for pointing this out I didn’t even think of my video channel when the Queen died.

I do think this loss spans generations however as you mentioned there are countries where this event will mean very little.

The Queen was the only royalty I’ve ever known, the crown has now changed to a King and I hope to grow to respect and admire him as much as I did his mother however he has a very large role to fill.
