Thanks so much for this video. Watching it I finally realized why my mustang is still so nervous around me. I was looking him straight in the eyes and faced him. So today I looked down and turned my body away from him pretty much the entire time and was able to pet him all over and he exhaled and finally lowered his head. Great success! For someone who doesn't know horses, this is an amazing video. Your body language on approach is telling her that you are polite, not threatening. Frequent releases tell her you won't ask too much of her. Returning to her over and over tells her that you are a new presence in her life, so she needs to get used to you. Your calm and steady way of working with her tell her you can be a leader she can trust.

I was interested in the comment about her not having much room in that little enclosure. I wondered about that before you brought it up. I know a little about dog training. A dog on a short leash is likely to be more anxious than the same dog on a leash a few inches longer. Short leashes deprive dogs of options to flee, so they have more of an edge than when they're on a leash that gives them more room to escape.

You made a good choice she's beautiful . I used to have a Dun mare to and I also owned a great great grandson of the famous wimpy he was a stud and he was fantastic and beautiful. He was very gentle 4 stud. I used him for a lot of breeding and pleasure riding I even rode him in our Christmas parades and did a lot of racing with him he was very fast. He was the kind of horse that would rather die than let another horse get in front of him . he was a fantastic horse and I wish I still had him but that's been a long time ago in the late 70s. I started training police dogs for years and retired now but still love horses more than dogs and I was very very good with dogs but never had a chance to learn how to train horses. I wish I could have because the lord gave me a gift 4 animals. Not to brag or anything but I have a fantastic gift and still do it just comes naturally what to do but needed training with someone 2 start me off like I did with dogs. It's a long story but an amazing Story how I went on to train police dogs knowing more than the trainers did. how to train them it was amazing how I knew all these things that just came like common sense. I myself don't even know how I don't know knew all that came natural to me how to train them but I did I just call it a gift from God

Hi! This horse had been in holding for 3-years. Prior to that, she had been in the wild. With an increasing wild horse population, resources have become limited. When a certain herd area runs out of food or water, they gather the horses so they can feed them in a contained pasture. It also helps slow the population growth down... there's currently 60,000 more wild horses than the appropriate management level. Programs like this one, the Extreme Mustang Makeover, help get these wild horses gentled and accustom to the domestic life :)

Jenna Clark Hey! I’ll answer this in another video :) but I do short frequent sessions. I’ll try to get an exact number for the next video!

Hannah Hanimals I didn't say 'stall' also do you specialize in standing up for to small spaces I'm starting to think so...
@mustanghannah5 жыл бұрын
@@summerpottruff9217 Actually im not!😁 I dont like small spaces or stalls where a horse cant move around. That horse can move around plenty. Have you ever seen a tiny area people put horses in which is discusting. This area is only temporary like she said.

How about Lila (short for lilac) for her name? Pronounced Lie-leh or kinda like Isla but replace the i and s for L and i
@julieb39965 жыл бұрын
I'd call her Jasper or Jasmine for her color. Or Lana she reminds me of a lion and a star. Or Pia, I just like the name. She has kind of an exotic eye...
