Malmö and the county of Skåne was indeed part of Denmark from as early as the 800's until 1658 when everything west of the Øresund (the body of water you crossed over) became a part of Sweden with the Treaty of Roskilde. the part of the city you explored is the old, Danish part of the city. that's why the architecture is so charming in the same way Copenhagen is. but if you leave the older parts of the city, Malmö is full of functionalist architecture and much more plain + gritty. and you are quite close with fika. more like fee- kuh with emphasis on it being two separate syllables.

Visit Lund too, its only 15mins train journey and its lovely! You can get back to Copenhagen from there.

I needed a short daydream and found this, your quiet walking tour around Malmö. I was especially surprised by the second stop already at/through the cemetery. Throughout Europe there are such different cemetery styles and atmospheres. I do also go there if I visit a city. Altogether well done, thanks for sharing😊

I'm loving you're winter travel vlogs i was planning to visit Prague, Vienna, Budapest this winter life happened couldn't travel at all so bummed was really looking forward to experiencing the Christmas Markets never been to Europe during winter or fall always late spring or summer and I've never been to Eastern or Central Europe, Scandinavia or the UK so many countries, I want to see and yet to explore Malmo looks peaceful and easy to explore.

🇫🇷 tu as raison ! Malmö était danoise jusqu’au 17e siècle. La ville est tombée dans les mains suédoise en 1658. Le traité de paix de Roskilde a contraint le roi Frédérik III d’abandonner la moitié de son territoire ! Malmö était donc bien danoise avant cette année là :)

Malmö is the perfect place for a daytrip because aside from the city centre and the area around mollan there is nothing else to see lol. come back in the summer tho and check out our beach. it's lovely and has the most beautiful sunsets. and that's coming from someone who has lived in Hawaii.
