I am also planning a trip to Bhutan so wanted to confirm can we bring gold from Bhutan to India without paying additional tax as I have seen in some video they are telling that we need to pay additional custom duty while coming back to india

Bhutan Govt doesn't allow Indian number car. आपको पहले Rs 4500 प्रतिदिन के हिसाब से Tax देना होगा.

You can purchase US dollars only if you have Visa and flight ticket for any country other than Nepal or Bhutan. So if you already have dollars then it could be beneficial. There are many money exchanger in Park Street Kolkata.
