Hi! I made eng subs for fellow int'l MyDays! okay so i felt bad for not doing proper eng subs... so i'll try my best! (also correct me if i'm wrong my hearing is bad lmao) //HUGE DISCLAIMER:: my korean is only subpar pls forgive me (some of it I translated through context clues lmao) the ones in [ ] are either my notes or words to give some context to the sentence' i also changed the voice of some of the questions since it felt incomplete when translated to English lol /intro/ Hello, this is DAY6's Sungjin. Today, I'll introduce you to my instrument ... the acoustic guitar. Q1: What's the difference between the acoustic guitar and the electric guitar? A1: To compare the acoustic and electric guitar, honestly, the electric guitar gets the sound from strumming here (super close to the hole of the guitar, probably meant for riffs), and it picks up the sound right away. It sounds electric and it can be switched as well, and the sound can be exported. It has a (?) feel and feels pretty strong for me. But then, the acoustic guitar's tone sound comes out as is [in comparison to the electric guitar where Sungjin mentioned it has to be strummed close to the guitar's hole] and the instrument guitar uses keys [i think he meant chords but im not so sure] because of its instrumentation. But there is actually little difference between the two. But personally, I prefer the acoustic guitar because it's more comfortable. Q2: What's your acoustic guitar's nickname? A2: My acoustic guitar's name is... Atom. The first time I saw it, I was "Oh, what was I thinking (???)" [I think he meant what was he thinking and he gave that name sort of thing]. It was just when I saw the guitar, I was like "Ah... well, yeah." So that's how I gave [the guitar] that name, Atom. Q3: Do you have a moment where "I played my instrument well"? A3: Well, there are actually lots of moments where I felt I played my instrument really well. Personally I'm more comfortable with a 'mainstream sound' , and after some research, I felt "Ah, there are lots of sounds I want" and thought about challenging myself with lots of new things in the future. So from now on, when doing music I'll have to think about it lots. I do think I'm good at playing the guitar. Q4: What are the acoustic guitar's charms? A4: Honestly, the guitar makes you think about how to make the sound different every time. Its fluidity makes me think it's really great as well. Now, the sound I want, who wouldn't do it this way? I could relate to the sound. To make it sound different, there's the switching between using a pick and not using it, but I'm definitely more comfortable not using a pick. [cue pro guitar skills by our beloved BOB] The guitar's middle makes you want to try more and there's so many possibilities with playing it. I really like the guitar. Q5: Which DAY6 songs that were composed using the acoustic guitar stood out the most? A5: I Need Somebody, Congratulations, and I Would were the ones that I thought the acoustic guitar shined in the most. The "band sound" that comes out together sometimes has a difficult shining point, and i think it's the instruments. The instruments have a knife-like feel to it, and there are parts in the songs such as the a-part and b-part where you can see the instruments going away, and the acoustic guitar fills those parts in, so when those acoustic parts come on, it's really good. Q6: What was your solo performance during the last finale concert all about? A6: Among all of it, there was this one that stood out where I started with an arpeggio, and it felt like it was dragging, and then all of a sudden I went full-on with the strumming. There was just a sudden explosion that I felt that made me want to do it. And so, for the last part, I wanted to give back that connection [with the fans] for the next [concert], and make a new one. I though of it as the "breaking up", and it was little regretful. "Where do we start?" I had lots of worries, but then I thought "when will 'soon' be?" /plays guitar/ Ah, this is how I started it off. I went down again like this. It was just like this /plays again/ So, you can see I played [the strings] one by one. /ends playing/ Yes, so this is how i played it. One by one, the melody line was formed, and that's how the instrument solo was done. Q7: What is acoustic guitar to me (Sungjin)? A7: Acoustic guitar... to me is like a friend who's not so close but continues to be a long-time friend. At first, the guitar wasn't something I liked and wasn't fond of, but then little by little it started to have charms which attracted me. Until now, it still feels a bit far but strangely enough it's become close to my heart. I can do a lot with the guitar now, and my voice makes a good friend to this guitar. For me, it's a long-time friend.
