There is a big problem in this country.....It is run by multi millionaires that don't have a clue about the real world/life, half of them have never done a days work in their life. (And most of them don't care as long as they and their friends get richer, and sod the working class) Diversivacation Sunday sounds like a great idea, so we can get to know about your other enterprises. I'm sure many have been intrigued by the different activities centred around your yard, so yes, love to hear the breakdown of your diversifications; it must take some administration ! I absolutely agree with your viewpoint on government farming policy. British people should be eating as much British food as we can produce, not food of poorer quality shipped half way round the world. More trade with the EU would be useful, but we've blown that one. 😉

We were accepted for mid tier scheme last Jan. Just been told getting no pay this year as problem with claim that have been chasing for 4 months. My MP is on the case . We are promised money and then claiming is a nightmare and no one responds to email at rpa. Diversification Sunday . Sounds a class idea. New subsciber from North Yorkshire.

Very sensible rant Olly, I am not a farmer or land owner but support the NFU in any way I can. People need to listen to what you are saying and advising. - Otherwise the farmers will just be walked over. Pleased that the big “chipper” is working again. 97% all day long. I can see the new schemes not benefiting smaller farms and those that have already got lots of environmental projects as the money will be for new projects. I'm only a small farm at 100 acres my largest field is 10 acres. Every field has 6m margins and surrounded by hedgerows. We have 11 ponds several small areas of woodland and 25 acres of old pasture wild flower meadows. I have no room left to do more environmental work. We have introduced cover crops and have rare plants in our stubbles. With all the changes farm diversification will be increadably important so it will be interesting to see what you have done to diversify.

I do not get any help on my small farm, Bps was taken off me by family. I had a guy here the other week and basically said you are on your own there nothing for me in the way of help in the future. The farm is only funded by our self.

Parry, What party was this? It wasn't the party that wasn't a party but was a meeting with drinks amd food,which is a party. I totally agree with your views on the government’s plan for a revised way of remunerating farmers for their hard work. I’m totally opposed to institutions such as the National Trust gaining income for their farms unless of course it goes direct to the farmers rather than the NT. Have the NFU drafted a letter which us non farmers can use to send to our MP to try and gain their support? If so let me know. I’ll have a look at the latest email from the NFU to see if they have put something together.
