I am watching from outside but have close ties to Kenya. My observation is that Mr. Ruto has not accomplished one thing. Not during his VP time. Not during his presidency. And he and his administration will not accomplish,ish anything. Because …. his goals and the goals of Kenyans are simply not the same. And will never be the same. Trevor Ombija really doesn't want ODM to be touched. The moment Morara mentions it, he either tries to defend it or deflect the conversation into another direction. He doesn't want to (or the listeners at large to) consider just how much corrupt practices are entrenched in that party, and how that is reflected in the governance of counties they control, and whom the proceeds of the corruption are channeled to. And as someone who admired the party from afar once, I've noticed just how much violence is a tool of negotiation in that party. Morara himself was a victim of that violence, in the sham "public participation" organized in early October. Young supporters of the party are lined up as sacrificial lambs against state-perpetrated violence, promptly forgotten after their lives are used by the party elite to negotiate for power & resources, and their families left suffering without breadwinners for the rest of their lives.
