Arabeske is a philosophical concept, attributed to organicism in German philosophers like Goethe, Schiller and Schlegel. Curious to read what theories you have about the symbolism in this video 👀

Well, he said while pouring himself a glass of wine, Valpolicella for those whom are interested to know, Goethe stated "The soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone. ..." surrounded by nature, where all elements influence and provide for each other in an indirect or direct way. None of them can stand alone thus forming an organic cohesion even between unrelated elements, thus having a relationship. The water provides... hum... water obviously, the tree shade, shelter and nest material, the animals provide for food,. from a simple seed to a mighty tree.. A continuous exchange and evolution were each part plays it's role. The reoccurance of events is embedded in their existence itself. As sure as there is a sunset there is a sunrise that will follow. Each winter is followed by spring.... The "all" is to be considered as one. When looking at sheet music, notes can seem as random dots on some paper, however they come alive when hummed, whistled or (expertly) played. The transformative nature of music leads us from ink to sound to images. Seeds becoming grapes becoming wine rejoicing many (when consumed with moderation of course), a child with a toy piano.... rejoicing many (without any moderation). PS: Did I pass this surprise test ?😉Two surprises in one go, a new video and a test.... PS 2: I am sure you will understand, simply by the nature of my name, that although I fully understand the predestination of the organic elements I am a strong believer of the self. Contemplation of our surroundings is an essential element to help us to understand our own behaviour which will help us to become a better version of ourselves. And isn't that what we all aspire ? Striving to become a better self with kindness in heart and action.

@@mzimmer1751 Interesting point about "Gödel, Escher, Bach". I must admit I didn't look at it from that angle. The reoccurance aspect certainly fits in with the organicism ideas. All is interconnected (ad infinitum in "GEB"). I considered it more as a formalistic, mathematical view. But, that being said, fractals are exactly on the crossroad of organic and mathematical. Thank you for sharing your idea. Now I feel I have to read "GEB" again (whish me luck). This vlog keeps on giving, so, thank you Miss Poon.

At first, the video was just a "mood piece" for me, but after looking at the suggestion/challenge in your description :-) I found material on Wikipedia for "Arabesque", and saw they mentioned "rhythmic linear patterns" and "interlacing foliage". From that, it's easy to see the connection to the parts of your video involving rippling waves and images of trees. I especially liked the upward shot of the fractal-like structure of the bare trees - I guess this connects with the "repeating geometric form" mentioned in that article. I just looked at the Wikipedia article on "organicism" and so the nature setting makes sense for your video. I've only just started reading about organicism, but to me it feels like it's about "nested complexity", where at each level you have a world unto itself. In music I suppose you can nest a pattern once or twice, but you know more than me... Thank you for posting this with your description - it really added something to it! :-) Btw, have you read "Gödel, Escher, Bach" by Hofstadter? Seems it might be related, but maybe a bit technical.

@@mzimmer1751 The tree sky around 2:30 looks a bit like a fractal or a diffusion graph, anyway something that nature does all the time, it makes me feel like i'm in meditation to become spiritual part of it.

This is a truly lovely episode. We are being taken on a sentimental journey through the eyes of a young woman lost in a daydream. She just kind of drifting round the place and you'll see there is something on her mind. There is beauty throughout-music to your ears and natural beauty to your eyes. Beauty is intrinsically edifying. So hopefully, the dreamer's persistence inspires you to pursue your dream. Multi-talented, she is truly loved for her kind and true heart. But her kind heart is just one of her endearing qualities. So much for daydreaming! 😅

Tiffany, wholeheartedly, you've successfully corralled the channeled intimacies related to lyrically conveying the expressive movements of Schumann's works in a way few artists will ever know. Unquestionably, to give yourself over as such - as though you were a selfless dreamtelling conduit of Robert's very own interior ideations - a remarkable feat... fated, perhaps. Though, the unfathomable hours you've clocked… confounding, no doubt.

Let me start with my - maybe not that sophisticated 😅 - theory about the symbolism in your (magnificent) video: we‘ve got the river, that means something in between, the great divider and uniter, cause on the one hand it’s dividing two parts of the land. And on the other hand, it gives you the opportunity to get from one side to the other. And also, to get further away, if your curiosity thrills you. The same with the path through the park. I mean, for me personally, the whole video is based on a feeling of lightness, curiosity, joy. So, maybe the video is a symbol for these (rare, light and precious) moments of being in between things, situations (or whatever), without the necessity to decide which way to choose and with the freedom to enjoy and make the most of these situations. But maybe I‘m just primed in my interpretation because you have placed the Arabeske on your album between the Kinderszenen and Davidsbündlertänze… 😅 And the music! There‘s something in your Schumann, that is so inspiring! I mean, it sounds beautiful. But there‘s something more. It‘s like, let me think, maybe like eating an orange and when you close your eyes you‘re not only tasting the orange, but you can get an impression of the smell and taste of the ground, where the orange tree spread and grow, you can smell and feel the wind, that blows through its leaves, you can see the burning sun going down behind the orange tree. So, by eating the orange you get a full packed story and narration! And that‘s what happening, when I listen to your Schumann! It‘s simply great, unique and very inspiring! (So inspiring, by the way, that I ended up buying the scores of Davidsbündlertänze and the Arabeske in the Henle-App. 😅 You should make a deal with them 🤭). To sum all up: Thank you so much for giving me and all of us these wonderful musical moments, Tiffany!

The coda in particular depicts the a possible ending of a tokusatsu movie should there be an additional scene. Schumann’s music can portray the post battle events. With or without the wonder ride book if we’re using Kamen Rider Saber terms, the heroes have restored peace and have finally been able to finish their story. What was once known as the Trio of Deep Sin, now they have repented their “sins” and can finally live in tranquility. Back to the MV, the music definitely depicts a tranquil state of mind hands down, add to that the scenes. Great video to watch whenever we feel down or if we feel happy and want to wind down.

Symbolism in this Video: The Duck The duck symbolizes free will, which is what anything has that can move upstream has. The duck also symbolizes a strong free will, swimming against social and traditional currents (since it looks like it is swimming against a current). It also symbolizes The Search (for true love) (since it is alone and moving about). The Girl The girl symbolizes human spirit, though with melancholy (not having found her true love yet). She is also searching for enlightenment, which humans have not had yet (only pretenders). She also symbolizes hope. The Lake Symbolizes the offering of reflection, on life and on oneself, and on what enlightenment really is. The Flowering Tree Symbolizing humanity, still flowering, but as obtuse as a tree. It also symbolizes beauty, waiting to be appreciated, if but with a glance. The Animals Symbolize narrow learned behaviors. They also symbolize their dependence on humans to address the issues of Broader Survival (which includes their well being as individuals), and which humans are failing to do in favor of folly. They also symbolize the value of all of life, since any species can evolve the brain capacity to become enlightened beings, given that humans evolved from microbes (according to evidence and not speculation, religion, myth, or make-believe, evidence being the best that we can do). The Girl's Shadow Represents art, and the spirit that underlies true art (and not commercial or financially mercenary art). Ideally, creating something that gives people the opportunity to spend time with better company. The Sunset Symbolizes our mortality, and fatalistic feeble human thinking that has not realized yet that resurrection via technology is a possibility and worth working for, as is continued existence (since we are obligated, being endowed with it). The Starry Sky Symbolized the Philosophy of Broader Survival, emphasizing the word 'broader'. The Music Symbolized the mixed, even confused, moods that humans have had toward life while still in their clueless state (humans are still in their Clueless Era of history, which, given the philosophy, is soon to change). The Credits Symbolize that we all need a little love, credit, and approval, if but to enhance our odds of continued primal survival among still-clueless humans.
@Isaac-qe2in10 ай бұрын
Anyone who believes that humans evolved from microbes IS in their own right an example of a feeble-minded, clueless human. And though you may believe that any species can evolve the brain capacity to become enlightened beings, let me assure you that this reply isn't coming from an 'enlightened' squirrel time-traveling from a future millenary.

This may be „leicht und zart“ but remember that „Op. 18 und 19 sind schwächlich und für Damen“. (Light and tender - op. 18 and 19 are feeble and for ladies) …Said Schumann. It is funny how composers were often dismissive of the pieces that would become their greatest hits. Debussy never wanted to publish “Reverie”, Saint-Sans wrote “Carnival” only to entertain his friends, Tshaikovsky was generally selfcritical
