This song came out back in the day when music was really music. I remember my H.S . Prom n "1979". I went to a half white and half black h.s. I remember they were looking for a "Theme song 4 the prom". I thought this song was perfect but, the other people decided to go with the BG's " Too much heaven". That was a cool song too but, oh well, anyway this song will always bring back memories from my Sr. Year. Nothing like the good ol 70's. If anybody that reads this comment... Holla back. Trotwood-Madison H.S. Trotwood, Oh. C.O. "1979"! Later y'all. ✌️

That you mentioned the instrumentation, all that, all those instruments, creating that floating away feeling,.it's so indicative of the music we were exposed to in the 70's,..if you played flute in band at school, you right along side someone who played violin, were welcome to be in a band, it wasn't like ohh they would never play in a contemporary, commercial band, no, there was every chance you would, they all used real instruments, even though moog synthesizers were around, real instruments were still important, still used,..not every band sounded alike, but the thing most had in common, expansive use of real instruments, strings, even more classical instruments, oboe, it just added to the atmosphere of the song, that vocals alone wouldn't do, but in conjunction, ooh man, look at how it can sound,..so glad you like this, so many groundbreaking groups with exceptional musicians, in the 70's, keep going, Godspeed, Peace ✌

Heatwave were a real funky band in the late 70's , early 80's. Rod Temperton was one of the group, the main and talented songwriter and he went on to write for other artistes including Thriller for Michael Jackson.

It's refreshing to see a young person discover some old school diamonds. Heatwave was an amazing group - American performers based in England (I think) I couldn't get enough of them. I want music to continue and evolve, but I hope great music can be remembered. Heatwave deserves to be remembered.

Looking way back on his career, Rod Temperton said that THE STAR OF A STORY was his favorite song that he wrote and composed, because he really captured a “mood” in that song. HEATWAVE is one of my all time favorite bands. I highly recommend you review these other great tracks by them: ALWAYS AND FOREVER, BOOGIE NIGHTS, THE GROOVE LINE, CENTRAL HEATING, MIND BLOWING DECISIONS 12” version, RAZZLE DAZZLE, THIS NIGHT WE FELL, ALL I AM, LOOK AFTER LOVE, ALL YOU DO IS DIAL, PARTY POOPS, LEAVIN’ FOR A DREAM, SEND OUT FOR SUNSHINE, EYEBALLIN’ and THAT’S THE WAY WE’LL ALWAYS SAY GOODNIGHT. Enjoy !

Star of the Story" is a ballad with a nice orchestral, airy and cosmic feel! And that flamenco guitar and flute playing...WOW! A lyrical masterpiece! Of course, Johnny Wilder's voice is golden! Other good songs on the Central Heating album: Ballad "Happiness Togetherness," Party Poops,."😊👏🏾🎶🎸🎤🎹🥁💯

Like Angela, I know “Always And Forever” and “Boogie Nights” as well as “Groove Line” but this song I became aware of much later. D’Angelo covered it in concert and it was 🔥. For me, this was a pivot for Heatwave bc they took their time and you had to go along for the ride. Very good song and for them as musicians it was a challenge to not think of “how will this play on radio?”. Creativity won out over commercialism on “Star Of A Story”. 👏🏾
