Donna Summer really had no limits with what she could do with her voice. That's what most people tend to forget about her, she had an amazing voice!

An era where singers let their talent shine and speak for them.They didn’t need the Internet to promote them, make them popular. Their talent did that for them.Donna was breaking records and crossing boundaries,she wasn’t looking for any adulation. That is why. Donna so special.

The impact of 'I Feel Love' - a gorgeous, gleaming spaceship of a track - on dance music is incalculable. Thanks to Giorgio Moroder's throbbing, pulsating synthesizers and Summer's sensual epic-orgasmic vocal, "I Feel Love" claims tomorrow in the name of disco.

This track was jaw dropping for its time and that 'techno' sound was imitated for decades after. Mesmerizing musically and, of course, Donna's magical voice is the cherry on top. :)

Consider the theme from "Midnight Express" - it was a contemporary of this song, though I don't remember which came first.
@blackmamba99971 Жыл бұрын
@@johngardner4096 After winning the oscar for best soundtrack to the movie Midnight Express, Giorgio Moroder composed this song to which Donna Summer was hired to sing giving her and his status on the club scene a much higher scope and range. Pete Belotte who wrote the lyrics thought of only one person who could sing this timeless track and her name was Donna Summer. Gloria Gaynor was thought of first, but Donna's ability to belt out notes on both high and low range was the obvious choice for both Moroder and Belotte. This is why most disco songs back then were so incredibly complex.

In the 60's & 70's it was necessary to edit certain songs running times to fit radio programmers daily play lists (The House Of The Rising Sun comes to mind). Around 1978 saw the birth of the dance mix and the inverse happened. Songs were lengthened considerably for the burgeoning Disco scenes around the world. Ms. Summers 'I Feel Love' was one such song. I loved when it was released. Both radio and dance mixes. Terrific reaction, RNB

I tell this story all the time, but I was two years old when this song came out (nearly 3), and even at that young age, I knew that what I was hearing was different than anything else I had heard up to that point. I was obsessed with the song and would sing it all the time-I can remember doing it. This song is definitely why I grew up loving electronic music and still love it to this day at nearly 48 years old.

This was Donna Summer's big break through song that led us deeper into the disco era. Giorgio Moroder was the music specialist who provided the alien techno sound while Donna Summer belted out her angelic voice on a whole new level. After winning the Academy Award for best soundtrack in the movie Midnight Express, Moroder requested Gloria Gaynor first for the song, but when she couldn't hit the high notes like he wanted, he had heard about Donna's unique voice and offered her a chance to sing I feel love. It was an instant hit the year it came out. It went to number one for weeks and propelled Donna's career even further. Since then, before her untimely death Donna went on to become known as the queen of disco right through the eighties and nineties. Many up and coming female vocalists often listened to Donna's songs during her solo career which helped them exercise their vocal ranges. Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Paula Abdul, Irene Cara and many more payed tribute to Donna as their beacon to stardom. Giorgio Moroder went on to create more albums with various other singers but none were as successful like it was when he chose Donna Summer.
