@@TaterTrails I am sure I will have the same feelings. I am taking the trek on 11/6 with G Adventures from Lukla up. I wish I could succeed. I know it’s much better to have personal guide and porter like you two, so you can hike at your own pace.

@@GODISMYSTERIOUS You can do this and succeed too! Go at your pace. Take an extra night at Namche Bazar and also at Dingboche, but do an acclimatization hike while there. Go high, sleep low. Take Diamox if you need it. You can be successful!

It seemed that you two were lingering on the trek and didn’t want to finish the trip so soon. You two really knew how to enjoy the scenery.

We took short breaks and pauses to rest or take pictures or videos, but we couldn't linger too long because we had a long way to go each day. But yes, we loved the scenery so much!

Great video and commentary. I certainly felt that I was there with you the whole journey. Can you share what equipment was used for your video recording, that was able to zoom quite nicely all those far away peaks/valleys/yaks? So happy for both of you making this trip including descending in snow/rain storm.
@TaterTrails2 жыл бұрын
Aw, thank you so much! We used a Nikon D7500 with an 18-300 lens for the peaks/valleys. The trail video shots were from a Sony ZV1 or iphone 11. Hope this helps. Thank you again for your kind comment!

@@TaterTrails Few more questions as I'm getting ready for my EBC trip... I saw that, some tea houses/hotels provide slippers for indoor use at night time, but not sure if you also suggest bringing your own shoes for night time use especially if nothing is offered by some of the tea houses/hotels? Thanks!
@TaterTrails2 жыл бұрын
@@chinp1433 You can certainly bring your own shoes to change into at night. Just be aware that there's a weight limit for the plane. We had to leave behind some things after weighing our bags at the hotel. I'm really excited for you! You're going to LOVE this trek!

Our feet were never cold on this trek. We wore wool socks and La Sportivia boots which were wonderful!

There are more than just one trail which can be used on the EBC trek, even though the guides keep quiet about them. One is the amazing High Sceninc Trail via Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche which should be used instead of the standard Tengboche route on the way up. If not, at least walk it on the way down. There is also a practically unused (by tourists, that is) trail on the west side of the river going all the way to Ghat near Lukla, with several monasteries and quaint pristine villages along the way. Just a stone's throw from the trekker highway, but totally different world.
@TaterTrails3 жыл бұрын
These routes you mention sound amazing! Hopefully this will get the word out so other trekkers can look into them. Thanks!
@karipintakivi91533 жыл бұрын
@@TaterTrails Problem (one of many) is that people do not use paper maps anymore showing all trails and villages, instead just use smartphone map applications mostly showing trails others also have walked recently. So nobody choses trails on real maps, just walk the same highways others also just did, unaware about alternatives clearly shown on real maps.
@TaterTrails3 жыл бұрын
@@karipintakivi9153 We had a paper map, but the guide plotted our route. Wish we had thought to ask about more scenic routes. Thanks for this advice. Hopefully, it helps others in planning their trip.

@@TaterTrails Amazing! I am flying out from Newark International Airport on November 3rd Thursday. I will reach Kathmandu on Nov. 5, Saturday evening. I meet the tour director on Nov. 6. Sunday. Then the group flies to Lukla on November 7, Monday. I wish I could complete the trek like you two but I won’t push myself too hard to make me sick. I will take it slowly.
