I've finally managed to lead the Sawmill horde to Iron Mike's Camp after so many attempts.
Changing scripted sequences to check what effect it has on the game!

On the mission when recovering drunk boozer you can lead the massive hoard to iron mikes if your slow enough and they glitch and go into a shootable pile

You can't do it anymore cos it was a glitch and patched. I can still lead them to the camp by modding.
