Completely agree with your tipping philosophy. As someone who put themself through college as a server, I value what they do, but someone working a counter isn’t remotely equivalent. It’s become ridiculous.

yeah 20% prompts while ordering at a counter just seems wild when you tip that for full wait service

From Europe but lived in nyc for a few years and the tipping culture is just exhausting. Why am I tipping people who literally just took my order at the counter???

I agree…after traveling in Europe it was a relief not to have to tip everywhere.

You could train wainscoting in the guest room! The bottom could be the collor if that throw blanket. The blue/green would be stunning for half the wall 😍

Mint is a very invasive species! Rip it out and make sure you get the roots too! If you still want mint you can have it in a pot and water that and just keep an eye out for additional growth outside your door.

You are the best been watching you since the beginning. I feel like we grew up together and have always been going through the same thing together so I completely understand everything from your last video and this one. But i just remind myself that were still growing and becoming the best version of ourselves and we will get there!

I feel like a limewash-y warm tan color on the wall behind the bed could complement the light blues and tie in with the pillows on the other side of the room. Maybe not limewash but some kind of texture on that wall could be cool. I think maybe Shelby did something like that in her Seattle apartment?

From Sydney, Australia and about to solo travel through West coast of USA starting in LA end of this month. Both equal parts excited and nervous about solo travelling for the first time and the tipping system! Haha So glad to hear you’re in the process of feeling like yourself again, I know the feeling and of course there’ll still be weird days, but know you’re so loved and appreciated. 🩵

I couldn't agree more about the additional 4% tacked on at restaurants! I'm seeing that everywhere where I live (Denver) and now I'm seeing it included as an actual price in the bill so tax is added onto it?!! Insane. The entire point of a price is to communicate what an item will cost, so it seems shady to have additional amounts tacked on after the fact. I wish places could just raise prices and let that dictate consumer choices, rather than getting a bill and seeing these random amounts added on.

I do not comment often on vlogs or anything really (guess I’m a ghost viewer in a way lol). However, I wanted to say how I much I look forward to watching your vlogs. You are always authentic in what you show which is nice to see. Whenever you were struggling in the last vlog, I kinda was as well. But to see you back in a better mindset is reassuring. This is turning out kinda long but last thing, I love seeing the ways in which you implement self care to be happy each day🫶🏻

i personally think tipping economy has gotten insane. I am SO fine tipping 20% - 25% to a waiter or hair stylist or nail tech or someone delivering food to my house etc. But I'm sorry (feel free to come for me) when I walked up to a counter, ordered coffee and walked out... what service am I tipping for?
@laurenmw9629
@laurenmw9629 Жыл бұрын
I tip basically every service staff person but I do tip less if they are grabbing me a pre-made sandwich versus making a complicated speciality coffee, a full meal, haircut, etc. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing 😊

We’ve just spent two weeks in the US, visiting from London and the US tipping culture is just WILD. Like we genuinely don’t understand - the prices on menus etc. themselves are roughly the same, but in the UK they include tax and employers being able to pay their employees a decent wage. The fact that you (as the customer) in the US are expected to pay these things is just rude imo. Like it’s your establishment, why I am (as the customer) responsible for making sure your staff survive or earn a decent living? Why do employers care so little about the well-being of the people they employ/see everyday? The price shown in the UK is the price for the service and products - no more, no less. Sure if people did well and you want to say thanks - why not ! It’s just not expected at all.

So interesting to see people your age living their life! I’m 26, live in NC (from NJ), just bought my first house on my own, and am in my first wlw relationship. You’re definitely not alone in having these thoughts about your past self; happiness is such a confusing concept and harder than it should be to achieve imo. It’s also so hard to weigh the positive things more heavily than the negative. Sending love and happy vibes always ☺️

You shouldn't be tipping a medical professional for a procedure - absolutely agree! Even in a spa/salon environment, if the person has a medical license and is providing a medical service, you shouldn't feel obligated and they shouldn't be accepting tips either

The restaurant I work at has a 4% tipshare with the back of the house. So even if every table gives you a 20% tip, you're only getting 16%. If someone doesn't tip at all, you now owe on that table and wasted time you could've been serving another table that actually tips. And Healthcare 😂 they advertise as full time with benefits, but they will only give 25 hours at the most and cut hours during holidays, so no Healthcare.
@MorganYatesVids
@MorganYatesVids Жыл бұрын
Ooooh!! Thanks for sharing - I always tip at least 20% (unless it was absolutely horrible service lol then like 15), but yeah the healthcare add-on charges seem sus to me because I always hear employees aren't actually getting that!! So it seems like just extra profit for the business
@ceilihigh
@ceilihigh Жыл бұрын
@@MorganYatesVids don't they already charge too much for Healthcare? 😂 weird to tip for that

Yes they do help and everything, but the tips just help because it just helps with having more money because those jobs don’t really pay enough to live in less you are like a general manager or you work a lot of hours like a lot of overtime. For me I was manager at fast food but I only made like 13 an hour so tips really helped me be able to be okay. I also have two kids but you know that was my choice.

I do not care about tipping. We do it in Brazil as well (usually 10-12% of the order amount). But that definetly is not what pays the employer salary, they make (not a lot) but a generally livable wage and usually have other benefits guaranteed by a national labour law. I am under the impression that tipping in the US is what makes most of what service people earn, and it is also not a lot... so, these people are put there depending on literal kindness of other people to live decently. I do not know if this checks out but seems like that to me.
