The Days of Pearly Spencer or as a subtitle "chamber pot"...When I was little, it seemed to me that David McWilliams would start singing during his interpretation which dates from 1966, in a chamber pot. .. Later, I believed that it was about a radio conversation of a pilot in his hunter towards his military base: he then described his mission... Now thanks to the web, the mystery has fallen: it is a telephone conversation from a journalist to his radio, which describes a poor man walking barefoot in the rain in a disreputable city... You really had to understand that... I remember the telephone connections of journalists on the radio: it had the same effect on me: it was as if they were all talking in a chamber pot... Really disgusting these goddamn phone connections!!! It would have been better not to go live: these deadpans recorded their comments, and they were broadcast on the air, it would have been clearer and more understandable...

I was once working as a scientist on the German ice-breaker Polarstern, in the high Arctic Ocean, the year 2007 (July, thus Midnight sun). My job was to count sea mammals and birds, and for whatever reason unknown to me, this song, which I'd known since early childhood, stuck in my head throughout the trip. There are worse songs to be stuck with whilst counting whales, seals, puffins and the like, one of my '60s favourites.
