Man, I found this song on Spotify in one of my daily mixes about a year and a half ago, nowadays, I'm a follower of Days to Waste, and I've heard every single song. When I heard it for the first time, I didn't understand the song very well because English is not my mother tongue, but one day I had to do an English assignment that consisted of taking some songs and translating them to put together a playlist. One of the chosen songs was this one, and when I analyzed the translation, it touched my heart. In 2019, I was about to graduate from elementary school, and I had a classmate who had been studying with me since seventh grade. She was one of the prettiest girls in school. After studying in the morning, we would go together to a course in the afternoon, and she would give me a ride because we lived in the same neighborhood. Now an adult, I can see that she flirted with me a lot and was always with me in any decision I made. But at that time, I was an idiot because I got it into my head that I should act like a serious and cold teenager who doesn't care about others in order to impress her. (I'm not saying that being cold and serious is wrong, I made mistakes by PRETENDING to be what I wasn't.) I have always loved her since we met, but I never had the courage to say it. I was embarrassed by the other classmates who made jokes about us. When I acted cold, it looked like she was hurt, but I thought I was cool and thought it was some mental game of hers. I will never forget the day things changed forever, it was time to leave school, and she asked me to stay to help her with a job, but I turned my back and walked in silence, thinking it was badass. Our paths parted in high school. I regret all that nowadays, but when I tried to contact her, she ghosted me and blocked my number. Now with regret consuming me every day, I feel like "I've been stuck in 2019, knowing I need to let it go, but reminiscing when we were just some kids and didn't have a clue what we were living ." If you relate to this, please don't be afraid to say or do what you think you should. Don't mind other people's jokes and puns. And even if the other person rejects you, don't worry about it, because your part you did, rejecting you were the other person's decision.
