My plans have changed and this DSP is not going to fit in. So I'm giving it away ! It never got used. Watch this video to learn how to win it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHe5c3udftmfp6s

I Agree. I also am not sure why everything has to be ran off a pre programmed mode in the RF DSP. I suppose a lot of people run fronts only and then subs. I don't particularly need a graphic EQ, and I also just don't like how a graphic EQ works. But, I listen to Dark Techno, and I want to feel surrounded with the sound and have it setup so that the source of the sound can not be identified. For me, it's 6 front, 2 rear doors, 2 in hatch area firing forward, and then a sub, maybe 2 subs if necessary. --None of those RF modes could do that. --The only thing with the Dayton is the low powered pre amp outs. 5 star car audio/stereo has a good 1 hr. vid reviewing the Dayton.

For what it's worth, you *can* change both the frequency and Q on the DSR1 - the DSR1 *does* have 31-band-per-channel parametric EQ. Not sure why you think that you can't change the frequency or Q on the DSR1... I have both a DSR1 and a DSP-408 - the DSR1 is *way* more powerful when it comes to EQ.
@thenotoriousrvh60915 жыл бұрын
I played with the software and the frequency wouldn't change. The Q would but not frequency that's why. I agree the DSR1 should be much more useful depending upon the individual needs.

I've used both, and I love Rockford Fosgate gear but I ended up returning the dsr1, I just didn't need the maestro feature and that's where the price difference is, and if your going full active 10 bands pee channel is plenty, if you need 31 per channel then you got bigger issues on the inputs, I could see if you were using some wacky factory headend that had some weird EQ on it but for any decent aftermarket unit the sound should be pretty flat to begin with.

Possibly 4 inputs for summing purposes. My factory alpine system has separate highs and lows in the front.

i agree with you, the RF dsr1 is falsely advertised, as an 8 channel, i wanted 1 cntr, 4 front components, 2 rear coaxials, and a 1sub(total 8 channels), it won't allow that, since the sub channel is 2 channels interlinked and no way to unlink. so i returned it, however it does have a parametric EQ(31 bands if you need this many bands to EQ you have other bigger major issues) also the dsr1 has a more powerful eq and TA than the dsp-408, but again effectively the dsr1 is a 7 channel output, so falsely advertised as an 8 channel.

I agree. Even in my system running front & rear components the software didn't have it as an option. Personally I'm hoping Kicker will come out with a stand alone DSP using their auto EQ like in the Key amplifier.

How do you go about actually transferring the EQ/Delay, etc. settings from the PC software to the DSP-408? Thanks

did you figure out you need to plug the PC into it? Do you need any special connection aside from the pc cable cord?

I want to mount this in the trunk. Is it possible to connect the 12v constant and switch power wires to the distribution block?
@thenotoriousrvh60914 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. But the switched needs to switched if not it will be powered on continuously and could drain your battery.

I knew I wasn’t the only person who still runs components front and rear. I haven’t pulled the plug on a dsp yet. Im old school and still play cds( always have at least one old leather cd case with 100 cds in my car ) but I’m trying to slowly get myself into using Apple Music more often. But I catch myself on long trips tinkering with my headunits eq for basically every song. Even with everything on highest quality settings, for Apple Music songs are still recorded extremely different . Do you mess with your eq on the Dayton much while you drive, or do you just adjust your headunits graphic eq for minor adjustments? Good review though. Damn you RVH

I haven't had the chance to get anything redone. Just about time I got everything put together for the redo the car broke down. I'll be using the Dayton as an active xover for the components and to flatten any real trouble spots on the RTA, no plans to readjust it once it's set. If any listening EQ'ing is needed that's what the HU EQ will before. 😂 @ damn you rvh. John's not the first or only person to ever say that.🤣

Once you use a DSP you will wonder why you waited so long, with 6 presets and the Bluetooth dongle you can set different profiles to change on the fly, I have one for driver only, one for center ( two people in the car) and one for passenger, it's crazy how the sound stage moves across the dash, the other presets are time aligned the same but with different EQ settings for different types of music. For even a easier way to switch between them get the remote knob.

Am I the only one that gets loud hissing noise in my car. I moved the rca cables alone and still major noise. I hook up my eq and no noise.
@thenotoriousrvh60914 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the Dayton adding noise ? If so I know there is a known ground loop issue with the wired controller causing it to add a hiss.
@stckyjoey14 жыл бұрын
@@thenotoriousrvh6091 Yes the dsp however I don't have the remote control so I moved the rca cables outside the carpet under the seat and I still get noise. So I plugged in my eq with same cables and no noise

Nice overview. I'll be looking forward to an in depth if you do one. Trying to do a semi budget build and the Dayton is on my parts list. I come from an age of EQ units, DSPs are all new to me, been out of the game for close to 25 years.

I know the feeling on being on being old school. 👍 Depending on your configuration the DSR-1 might be a better choice idk, but for my system it just wasn't going to work out, it is a good piece. Thanks for watching !
@charleswp714 жыл бұрын
If you need the maestro features get the DSR 1, if not get the Dayton, use a RTA to flatten the sound to the inputs if that's possible and make your adjustments on the EQ on the outputs, then use a calibrated mic to adjust you final output from the speakers, once you get that sorted start playing with the time delay, you will be blown away once you get it right
