Daytona USA - 8 Player PS3 Online Race (777 Speedway)

So, I put out a video saying me and a few other guys were going to be playing some Daytona USA online on the PS3 awhile back, would anyone like to join us? The response was awesome, pretty much straight off the bat we got a full lobby of 8 players - this is only the second time I've played the game with a full lobby since it first released and the only ever time before that was within the first few weeks of it's release back in 2011. Awesome! Someone mentioned in the comments of my invitation to play video (afterwards we'd finished playing) that more players turned up than could fit in our lobby and another lobby got underway which hosted some 6 - 8 player games! Double awesome!
Man, playing with 8 players is hectic but a lot of fun. Nice as well to get to play as some of the Hornet colours you don't see all that often (black, pink, cyan and orange). I had a bit of an unfortunate habit in these games of cocking up in the final leg of a race, really annoying when you've done three quarters of the race like a champ, but still end up near the back of the back.

Disaster for us at the first hairpin/final left on the first lap, Tekcla then goes spinning and ends up finishing in last whist I also have another close-finish with advanx48 at the final-stretch putting me in 2nd lol. Me and advanx48 are like the Takahashi brothers from Initial D of this game.

I had a super annoying CPU car around the 01:22 mark I initially rear-ended and after that it seems to get super glued to my front bumper and just won't get out the way.

I like how all the ai racers are just all a purple 99 car

It's only in multiplayer that all the AI cars turn purple. In single player they've normally got different colours and liveries.

@@haaxxx9 This isn't the first time I've had someone asking me what build of RPCS3 I'm using on a video of me playing on my PS3, which I always find kind of weird, seeing as the title doesn't say it's emulated, nor is there any suggestion that this is emulation in the description. I had one guy who commented on a PS3 Ridge Racer 7 video of mine saying "Send me the image file". I felt like saying to him, what, you want me to send you a photo of my physical Ridge Racer 7 disc bring played on my actual PS3?

still pisses me off that sega ages virtua racing on the switch didn't have 8 player online like this, im sure that would've prolonged the life of the game because it literally died about a month after release

i dont think it deserved to be a part of the sega ages switch line as a whole.. it wouldve worked out way better as a standalone crossplatform title. imagine what it would look like on the ps5 thru the ps4's back compatibility!

@@kbmodo exactly. Damn SEGA and M2 for making that retarded move, Hotshot Racing had to make up for that but I still want V.R, Daytona USA 2 and Scud Race/SEGA Super GT etc. on current systems with online and crossplay.

@@kbmodo The lack of an 8 player online mode in the Switch game really makes no sense and, as Dale said, the fact it was a Switch exclusive rather than a cross platform title.

Yes. I organised these games through my KZbin channel. If you have a read of the description there's a link to a Daytona Discord that people use to arrange games through.
