The hearing on Microsoft's approval to acquire Activision Blizzard, which began last week in California, has proved to be an extremely valuable source of information on the past and future plans of the industry giants. The latest fruit of this was the confirmation that DayZ 2, a continuation of the hit online survival game, is in production. This information comes from Microsoft's internal correspondence, which has been attached to publicly available evidence. Bohemia Interactive is listed there as one of the studios that Microsoft is looking at in the context of a possible takeover. The studio description states that Bohemia Interactive is currently working on three projects - Arma Reforger, Arma 4 and DayZ 2.

I would appreciate DayZ2, but unfortunately I know from former employees what kind of pace they have in Bohemia. I'm in no hurry.. Maybe they're waiting for someone to buy them. A friend even told me that when releasing DayZ they could have switched to a new engine, but they dropped it... too much to do

I actually like how DayZ is not holding your hand when crafting. It's kinda awesome not to know all the mechanics of the game and discover them with time.
@nutbastard

Not just crafting, literally everything. No in game map, no minimap, no numbers on your stats, when you get sick it doesn't tell you what you have or what will cure it. No tutorial to tell you not to eat with bloody hands or bandage with unclean rags. You can look all that stuff up, sure, but in game? Nah, you're on the coast with a plum, a bandage, and a chemlight, and then it just chucks you in the deep end. You figure it out, or you don't. Items you could pick up don't glow. It's very oldschool in that way and as an older gamer, I'm all about it. It also provides a filter for the playerbase - A lot of younger and frankly toxic players try it out, starve to death a few times, and rage quit. Good. This is not a game for impatient people or those who don't want a challenge. PvP is maybe 5% of the game, and there's plenty of shooters. You survive in DayZ on knowledge and wits, and that's what the game brings to the table that almost no other game does. It's no wonder the most popular servers are "Helis Traders Weed 10x Loot Safezones Infinite Stamina $100k start ATMs" blah blah. Because little kids bought the game, still want to say they play DayZ, but they don't actually play DayZ.

I can see advanced crafting being a "figure it out" sorta thing, but basics need to be disclosed. We shouldn't have to resort to Google in the middle of a PVE/PVP game. Give us enough to get started & maybe make suggestions for more advanced items.

I think I'm the only guy who wouldn't complain about the constant running... even if the new maps are insanely huge. For me, it's the whole reason I play the game. It adds to the immersion, and really helps the zen experience I play this game for. Nothing makes a large map larger, than slow travel. It also forces the player to explore more... which in DayZ is a good thing, because learning subtle terrain features can be a make-it or break-it for solo players.

Many casual gamers who play comfortable mainstream games complain about this and call it a "hiking/walking simulator" - but excatly that's what's nice about it. The sounds of the forests and fields. I love Nature in DayZ. I don't want polluted barren wastelands for an apocalypse. A Zombie apocalypse is a disaster that only affects us humans because we became too many on the planet. Nature continues to flourish like thousands of years ago.

fast travel makes open worlds in games unnecessary or makes the world feel very small. it's why i tend to avoid vehicles in dayz, if i can just safely pop from town to town gathering everything it sours the experience and makes it boring after a while. cars are basically godmode in vanilla dayz, just drive into a town, honk the horn, run over the zombies, town safe to loot without firing a shot.

@@berzerk1450 - my point EXACTLY. Have you seen the television series "Life After People"? That's the kind of post-apocalyptic experience I want to play... a few years after nature has started taking everything back. No cars. No gas. No electrical grid. Only more hearty remnants of domesticated animals. Wildlife EVERYWHERE.

What makes DayZ one of the best games ever it's the unlimited number of possible sequences, ecounters, threats and friendships you can have while playing it. In over 4000 hours of playing DayZ i made friends across the entire globe and we still communicate, even if we dont play together anymore. As Baby Nades said, it's amazing way of recreating the reality it's exactly what makes DayZ great.

I literally got more members in our back then 6 guys gaming-clan. One of them i wanted to snipe in Novodmitrovsk city place out from a window but missed and he shouted to spare him, then i fixed his broken leg and took him to our campfire in the forest and he stayed and played with us for lots of years until his mother got ill and walking impaired and he had to 24/7 take care about her and does not have time for gaming anymore. He was such an enrichment to our clan, we laughed streams of tears because of his joy and humor.

@Svartsejd
@Svartsejd Жыл бұрын
@@zombaldag9337 Like it's said in the video, the game is running on 2 different engines and not solely on Enfusion like you claim. The devs have already said they won't update the game to fully run on Enfusion since that would be too much work and it would set it back to the point where it won't be playable due to all the bugs they'd have to figure out and fix. And they can't even do that with the game in it's current version. Every update & hotfix just breaks something new and old bugs resurface again.

Very well made video. Well done! And I hope you've raised enough awareness and interest in this that Bohemia can't ignore a sequel. DayZ is hands down my favourite game ever. If I could only play one game for the rest of my life, it would be DayZ for the simple reason of how limitless the gameplay possibilities are with the right groups of people. The only issues like you have mentioned are the aging engine and limited game systems holding back any continued development or modding capabilities.

From a business point of view: Total conversion DLC for ARMA 4 It will force people to get ARMA 4 to get the DLC. Huge increase in revenue. But the biggest is consolidation of workforce and effort. Would allow BI to utilize full team on one large project and allow for devs to be moved between projects with ease.

I'm really impressed with the amount of research you put into this. Also one thing they MUST maintain with a newer version of DayZ is the level of grit and avoid streamlining. The game flourishes with it's multiple trivial obstacles melding together to create an over-arching challenge, unique to each player. That's what makes the game so special. Back in the day it was really hard to learn a game that had so many controls as there was nothing else like it. Once I learned the controls though I started having real fun playing and manually scripting sequences like loading and unloading helicopters. Anyway it has a huge learning curve but thats what makes it the best game as well because once you learn it there is so much to do!

Things dayz 2 isn’t complete without: 1: underwater swimming and fighting underwater 2: more in depth cars (being able to shoot out of them [accurately with pistol in accurate with rifles] 3: in depth hostage taking with knife or pistol (can also work like a Cod execution if you you need) 4: better gunplay (more inaccurate while moving, better sway, Picture in Picture scopes, better shock damage system so they don’t ALWAYS get knocked out and also gunsmithing 5: better and fine tuned movement so you can do action movie stuff but it’s also realistic enough to prevent fights where you just zig zag or circle each other 6. Explosive diarrhea

I agreed on many points, nearly all in this video, but these are some of my ideas: 1. Headshot only infected. 2. Larger masses/hordes. 3. Breakable doors. 4. Long life perks. The longer your character survives the more efficient they become. (trackable perks that pop up in your menu) 5. Players become AI Z's when you die from infected. Basically once you die (from infected), that character roams the map. The infected you retains they're long life perks, and gear. Now if you go to try and kill and loot yourself, or anyone else tries.. they could be facing a potential boss infected, depending on how good you were before your new spawn.

I agree with you. There needs to be a DayZ 2 with everything you mentioned. I may have missed it, but I think they should also expand on base building and possibly being able to do renovations such as painting, creating a road/driveway, repair boats to go out and catch bigger fish, more types of vehicles, skill tree. One thing I would like to be able to do on consol is customize the billboard signs and put solar panels on the roof of a house to power all electrical items. Bulldozers to knock down a house that may be blocking your view of the beach sunset. A way for people to start businesses in a town they built up. All in all, that detailed level of living in an open world. DayZ 2 would have the potential to be up in the number with GTA 6 when it drops.

towards the end of the video you mentioned superzombies. i play on xbox right now and theres one server i play on cant remember the name but it has zombies wearing the full rag outfit that take mad damage like im talking a mag or two from the ump45 up close mad damage. it adds an interesting dynamic to clearing an area of zombies

Good vid. One point though that wasn't referenced, Always Streams was talking about BI as a developer company, not the development team specifically. He praises the team working on it all the time and encourages people to watch their streams. He's said a few times he thinks the team working on it are fighting against the tied with limited support, which has become a little less harsh with rising player numbers. But BI loves ARMA, they don't love DayZ. Sumrak had to make Namalsk in his spare time, because BI would never have invested in anything like that. Realistically, the dev team have been exceeding their actual budget, which was originally just there for maintenance and occasional patches. Because DayZ was not released completed, it was broken, cars didnt work, glitches didnt stop, content was removed and so on and so on

The Survivor Gamez was so fun. Excellent for practicing shooting and testing weapons. I actually bought a new computer to play it decently and then it was discontinued.

I would like to see a version where you can earn XP or currency during your game life so you can buy equipment and build up loadouts to start with instead of having literally nothing on a respawn. Maybe even have a secure storage for loot that only you can access. Some of us love the game but have a life and we can't just farm loot for days at a time just to lose it all due to some nonsense like bugged out walls, wild animals with zero warning or most egregiously: Hackers. Which WILL be an issue in the game at times. Just a matter of when. Of course I also advocate to have the standard formula servers and call it Classic or Hardcore mode.

I doubt we’ll see a dayz 2 stand-alone honestly. It took years for them just to get it in the half decent shape that it’s in now but I’m sure with Arma 4 we’ll get a bunch of really badass dayz(esque) mods that’ll surpass standalone

I'm proud to say I supported DayZ since 2013 and have bought it multiple times for my friends. I'm happy for the team and Dean Hall seen as much success as they have.

Wow, I didn't realize how much I needed DayZ 2 in my life until I just watched this video. I always thought DayZ was flawed but had so much potential, yet somehow no one ever managed to make a "better DayZ" despite the many attempts at the genre. I'm now convinced that the only ones capable of making a "better DayZ" is DayZ themselves.

They have to stick to the "old spirit" of getting as realistic a feeling as possible out of their engine. It must never become a totally exaggerated action game just to open up new markets (asia, as mentioned in the video), where you fight 100 zombies on your own with a katana and kung-fu moves to shred them to chunks.
