The best bases only have gates imo. Can get around the flagpole and can focus on reinforcing the only point of entry. Big towers, sheds and those corner city buildings with yellow wall paint come to mind.

Flags aren't necessary especially on vanilla people usually interact enough with their bases that the flag is pointless but still handy to know how to build. Some community servers require you to build a flag to claim your territory. Also agree with the blocking off buildings unless of course you're feeling creative. Solid comment, cheers A1 👍🏼

Yeah I get on just to make sure my base isn't despawning. Without a flag it still takes about 14 days to start despawning on vanilla

It will take you months of searching to find out base. No building in the game even has the potential to be as safe. Only a few good spots left that go unchecked. But it's still better than buildings that absolutely will be found

Jesus Christ. So based on what I gather, if you're on an official server, and you factor in search and loot time, add to that, tool wearing down, you're realistically looking at 2 to 3 real time days, just to gather the materials, repair the tools, find food, just to build the 3 objects you showcased in this video. This doesn't even include if you die and have to respawn. Yet, with all that time put into building a base, any Joe with an axe can break through your walls and steal your gear in less than 30 mins if they raid you while you're offline. Does the dev team realize how unfair this is?

Lots of people have been asking for a base building update from the Devs for awhile, don't build a base on official it's just not worth it. If you want to build a base do it on a community server. Base raiding is part of building a base tho that's a risk you take when building, if you don't want to get raided and lose loot don't build a base or play on a pve server.

Oh what a shocker. It takes days to build a shelter or base. Oh what a shocker. Someone can break your shelter with very easy effort. That’s realistic. If you don’t like realistic, then stop playing. It’s always easier to destroy something rather than build it. In real life and game.

i SAW a base with two double sets of walls surrounding it with traps the surrounding 200meters around it. Raided in two days. Looked amazing though, wasnt my base and i was heartbroken when i was checkin on them and they were losing their raid battle hard :(

Very informative. Especially the part in which direction the gate should be build. A little bit of positive criticism. When you show how to build the watchtower for example, just blend in the necessary items like nails, planks etc like at the beginning of the video :)

i need to take the lock off of my door to open it, doesnt that mean that if someone is outside my door they can just kill me and take over my base? im a rust player so to me this makes 0 sense it makes me not want to buy the game anymore to be honest.

That's exactly what it means. Base building on community servers is where it's at, code locks and other quality of life mods and changes make base building and just playing the game in general more enjoyable. The Northmen's have some great servers

You can't build free standing houses dude, can only block off already existing ones or get creative with how you build a vase with watch towers and walls

@@niceshot1999 you need to be standing on what will be the inside part of the fence to get the prompt. Make sure you actually have the logs attached to the kit as well

No wish you could tho. You need to build a regular wall with the fence kit in place of one of the watch tower walls to turn it into a gate
