I hardly fish at all. Go on the other side of the road from the sea and find mushrooms. They grow in birch forest where the snow does not cover the ground heavely, near and on downed birch trees. You can find more than you can carry somtimes and one cluster gives you more than a alot of foods plus it gives a good amount of water and you cand eat them right away as they do no come frozen. Birch trees are the white ones with blotchy dark spots. They grow all over but the yellowfeet mushroom grow better closer to the coast in the game. Aslo you can stay hidden while finding them as opposed to fishing.

I love this feature. I forage mushrooms in real life, and in dayz it's so perfectly simulated it's like a little mini game for me. I can spend an hour just wandering through the forest avoiding wildlife lol

I think saying "in depth" is a stretch. 1. Improvised rod/hook = less meat 2. Normal fishing rod = more meat 3. Jig = no worm required There..

Tip: Don't sleep on the Fish Net Trap or Small Fish Trap! Passive fishing allows you to multi-task like a boss.

The fishing rod takes up 10 inventory slots, but the improvised fishing rod only takes up 9 slots, this makes no sense at all since the fishing rod uses a telescopic fishing rod graphic. It should be much smaller when in the inventory, maybe 5 slots.

well the improvised one is just a stick with string so is thin and long, as it is in the inventory. the normal rod has a reel and is shorter, hence why its half the inventory length but double the width. Makes perfect sense

Laboured? This game is like 12 years old... it's been one of the slowest paced things ever for how much revenue it has generated. Go play EFT and I think your mind might actually explode at what they implement in a couple years.

ive done some personal experiments on official. it seems to me that the farther out in the water you do your fishing the quicker you catch them. for example stepping out on the small piers to fish allowed me to catch fish at least 2 to 3 times as fast. i would like to know if anyone else gets similar results

I just noticed this yesterday. I didn’t test it out again but I caught two fish immediately out on the edge of a pier. Makes sense.

It would be nice if they gave the EXACT weight of the fish (in lbs and oz too !) instead of "About 2kg". Things like that are important to fisherman. The devs could really improve the fishing alot (even the various mods don't do a good job) to make fishing a competitive activity like in some of the Zelda games. Because once you've geared up to end game on a PvE server, it would be nice to be able to have fishing matches with your friends.

Does the fish percentage mean it's a small fish or big fish? ie, a wooden hook couldn't pull in a 100% but a fishing jig would? Asking for a friend I only eat players. Also in the fishing world they call them lures I think

It seems to help if you move spots when you catch your first fish. If I stay cast in the same location as my last catch, it seems to take a lot longer to land one. Anyone else notice this?

It is..👌👆 Was going to point that out too (since Marks didnt seem to know..🙄..) fishing in Early morning, and just as evening dusk falls, can have you done in 2 minutes.. Someone else pointed out that the docks produce quicker too.. ..confirmed, but i no likey the danger, and there are plenty of big boulders.

Should switch up the non-fish loot, people dont be tossing decent boots and pots into the ocean. Maybe hook a repairable net or other crafting materials. Seaweed to be dried/eaten?

I’m not a fan of hooks getting ruined. I’ve fished all my life and the only time I ever ruined a hook was when a hammerhead shark stole the redfish I was trying to reel in. Bastage shark!

1pp is meant to be super dark, 1pp is meant to be more hardcore and 3pp less hardcore hence the brighter nights.

Im extremely concerned about the future of dayZ. The recent update did nothing. It didnt add anything, no weapons, gear, equipment, tools, base building, lore, or contaminated zones. The outer islands are empty and low tier. Its getting incredibly stale quickly and they edited the loot to be worse. What is going on? Do they not have the resources? The people? The will? In my honest opinion its as if they say what could make this map or game great and stand out then do the opposite...

@Marks12 I understand, just frustrated at the moment. The map is great and it doesn't deserve a review bomb, but I can understand some points from the community. Empty lower islands, and they're tier 1, the NATO containers aren't really worth it. Just confused, why didn't they have Eastern gear ready to fill in gaps? Why is there no lore or reason we are in sakhal? The scientist is kinda pointless, you can find all the stuff in the briefcase elsewhere, it's just a guarantee if you find him. It just seems it wasn't done yet in some aspects. Don't think we don't love the map, just confused as to why they didn't already have things done for the map and theme of the map.

When the hell are ya'll gonna use some sense let us double up with shirts under coats and jackets?? You know thats realistic right? We can wear a flannel under the damn jackets. Ya'll need to stop trying to take ish away and wanna make it harder when it's already hard becuase you're short changing every damn thing. Taking guns away and slot numbers. We have layers on in real life put that ish on the game and stop being lazy!! And then you pick and choose who you wanna take feedback from and then you change something for the worse and mess stuff up. Keep taking away and taking away. That's why people show they can do better than you with mods because ya'll be half assing. And fix the damn spawns and glitching zombies.
