The best part of this movie was how accurate it was. For us who lived back then, you knew someone who was exactly like every single character in the movie. Plus it captured the mood and atmosphere of the time so well. We had jamming music, hot muscle cars, and horrible styles. But it was so much better than today.

I was born in Texas in 1975. I can remember my parent’s friends being just like these characters. The Wooderson character in my family/friends was my uncle. He was nearly the same guy hanging out with the younger guys (my dad’s friends) looking to score with the younger girls and drove a TransAm Firebird just like Burt Reynold’s with the huge bird on the hood. I remember thinking he was the coolest guy around but it turns out he was just a massive loser.

@Larry Snyder The early 90s was the same way. I can’t wait until someone makes our “Dazed And Confused”. They’ll probably have to call it “Whatever” or “Nevermind”. Whatever they call it, it’s going to have one hell of a soundtrack. I feel a bit sorry for GenY/Z, though. Their soundtrack is going to be sad AF and the movie is just going to be a bunch of awkward kids sitting around staring into their phones afraid of social situations.

That must have been pretty fun to do! Looking back on the 90s, it seems like just yesterday.... My 1975 GM pickup like the one in the carwash scenes is still alive! It was my real everyday vehicle that took me to high school in the morning and thru sonic drive in when evening came around. Me and some friends fixed it up in auto tech class back in the day and cruzed the strip in town every weekend.... Man, I wish I had the money we spent at Etna on regular unleaded alone! Truck is still medium metallic blue with the Western Auto "mangles" chrome wagon wheels on it too but no stainless trim now except for the wheel well arches. The original 350 motor under the hood is still banging on all 8 though and I still get it every chance I can!

Absolutely...I also feel like us GEN X kids who were in high school in the 90s..have alot more parallels to the 70s more than any other decade because we were the decade birthed from a radical cultural shift change that occurred in the 80s... The same way the kids from 70s did from the 60s. We weren't the first wave of a generational change but we were the aftermath of it so we kinda took what happened the decade before us and upped the ante a bit... And learned from the mistakes those from the previous decade made. Just like in the 60s.. they were spawned from the ultra CLEAN AND Conservative family oriented climate of the 50s... Where drugs music and POP CULTURE started to influence the world with TELEVISION starting to be in every house hold.. and that global awareness had the youth kinda in revolt...so came the drugs..that influenced the music and movies then the 70s took that and perfected it Then the 80s industrialized ALL OF THAT... Then the war on drugs started ..with crack being born that totally CHANGED THE WORLD. And we took all of that and perfected it... Idk just my 0.02

Im 18 and my mom was like "you should come watch this movie called Dazed and Confused with me" (on 4/20 of all days lol). And i was like..uhhh okay. And ever since that day ive been infatuated with 70s culture and lifestyle. Im a senior this year, so some of this i can totally parellel, driving around with friends looking for more friends to party with, smoking joint in the woods, and more parties. The only part were missing is car culture and good music (which is sadly a huge part). I would give almost anything to go back and expirance a real friday night party as a senior in the 70s (and even the 80s, cause im obsessed with that decade too)

1977 the summer before my freshman year in high school, there was a girl name Julie who was going to be a senior that year. she was my first real make out, ...no home runs, just fun. Some of the scenes in this movie reminded me of those days, because Julie did drive me home that night and I had drank a few beers.....It's a shame we can't get those days back, or at least revisit them from time to time....... Full dream control or a time machine would be great.... What I'd do to go back to the age of analog, and bring these younger generations back with me. I'd say many of them would choose to stay.......

I met Matthew McConaughey at a Cleveland Indians baseball game when he was making White Boy Rick and he was wearing an Alright Alright hat. He talked to me a few minutes and I gave one of his sons a game ball that he was pictured with on his social media pages and publications. I was sitting in the first row behind the Indians dugout and he was sitting up behind homeplate where there was a net and couldn't get a ball. I even offered for him and the kids to come down and sit with me. Moment I will never forget.

I was born in 1957 and graduated high school in 1975. I think Dazed is 1976 graduation so that’s damn close. They really nailed the era especially for an ostensibly southern high school. It helps a few were native southerners. I’d been living in South America and had heard about this movie coming out and ran and rented it soon as I came back in 1995. I was not disappointed. It’s a classic. Oddly enough even though it’s only one year difference, 1972-75 high school was a bit more hippie than the mid to late 70s which was more stadium rock. Lord though the baggie pants, puca shell necklaces, and clog heel shoes...man...and always smoking weed. Fire Towers and keg parties another commonality. Man the girls were so pretty then and skinnier. Jocks preppies and freaks. It’s hard to explain today. One weird factoid. All my kids still listen to my music from a bit to a lot depending on which of the five. The longevity of 1960s till 1990s electric guitar based rock and rock and roll is amazing isn’t it. We were last year to register for the draft. It was admittedly an easy time for us. Too easy it can sure be argued. One caveat. Pot in moderation. Don’t be a couch tater. Grab life and live it and try to see all you can. Don’t just read about it. And of all those folks who seem so important in high school you’ll be lucky if you’re still talking to a half dozen of them at 50. Be fair and stand up for yourself and screw being popular. Be original and think for yourself
