Shame is an important teenage emotion but its kind of the same as embarrassment. the two would be kind of redundant maybe. Wonder if Pride could be a new emission ? that would be its opposite. imagine a story where Riley keeps shifting between large, baggy all covering cloths that hide her body and skimpy short cloths that show it off. How she tries both extremes and gets negative results from both. Then she finds a balance. You could put her threw all kinds of phases. Punk, Goth, gang banger, hipster, hippie, as she tries to fund her self. I love the idea of trying out different ways of living and trying to balance them all. She could try out Zen or cosplay or disaster prepping , run a full gambit of life styles.

Self-love especially. I like the idea of "passion" more, though I know its similar. I think it'd be better for her this time to focus on the things she can do for herself more than her relationships with others. She's at the age where she'd be developing new interests and hobbies and growing stronger attachments to them. I think it'd be a good vehicle towards discovering herself, and a perfect counter to anxiety. My anxiety started developing around that time and so did my passion for art and animation. Those have been my go-to coping methods ever since. Whatever you call it, this is an emotion the movie definitely needs.

Fair, but what I loved most about the first movie was that it focused on sadness and how important it is to let yourself feel that sometimes, tackled toxic positivity and the complexity of emotions. It did a good job of balancing the dark with the goofy, but it made me bawl multiple times cos it got so real. It'd be kinda weird for the sequel to lean too far into positivity imo. I like the idea that they're still going to focus on a negative emotion but also how to cope with them and reach a positive conclusion. Also I feel like there just are more negative emotions than positive.. like the only one off the top of my head is excitement.

My guess is the emotion might've been depression... More specifically the type that can lead you to hurting yourself. Unfortunately it affects a lot of teens and that it could've led to something dark and maybe too depressing for a Pixar film. Ah, shame is definitely a huge emotion for teens but I feel like it's too similar to embarrassment which is why it might've been cut.

If there is another hidden emotion I hope it's a darker emotion that enters towards the end of the movie. The typical positive ending followed by a silhouetted or cropped out emotion. Maybe something like Dread laying the path of a potential third movie. Growing up is tough. Dread could appear as an upcoming driving test deadline approaches. The concerns of damaging a vehicle, other property, or even other people. It can be quite overwhelming. Maybe the thought of getting a first job, or moving out and/or going to college. Maybe even loosing someone close to oneself and trying to move on. How dread is dealt with and overcome can be dreadful in and of it's self. That's a movie I'd pay for. Too bad it's probably too sensitive to be made in the context of Inside Out.

I don't think I've ever seen a video with almost a 70/30(? Not sure on the maths, looks like 67/33 with the bar from my extension) split on likes/dislikes(2.2k likes, 1.2k dislikes), and a comment dissing the video with over half the dislikes as likes, "It's a shame when KZbinrs..." with 758 likes right now. At least a video about a true fact. Their reasoning was that it's too dark??? Yeah right, Pixar once opened a film with an attempted $uicide. The first Inside Out was well balanced in showing the positive and negative sides of each emotion. My bet is that they didn't want to display Shame in even a slightly positive light. They weren't willing to show the benefits of Shame since in our modern culture, we seem to reject anything that might suggest that we're not perfect beings. Shame is one of those convicting emotions that remind us that we're not exactly all that we could be and modern Disney would never suggest that self-improvement is a good thing.

Agreed I was actually kind of disappointed that they added embarrassment before shame since for me embarrassment is a lesser form of shame. And I think outside of emotions such as sadness and anxiety, shame could absolutely be a focus emotion who cares for Riley even if they come off as overly strict or harsh like a strict parent who deep down still cares for their child. Trying to keep Riley out of trouble or reasonably punish Riley for unmoral or irrational actions that may damage her relationship with others and not just her parents.

4:30 given the character bloat, if I where to have made the high level decisions for this film I would already say that anxiety and onui would be the two I get. Embarrassment seems like it is just for funny gags, and disgust already kind of has the envy role. My Emotion is ''Idealism'' the emotion of being an intentional Jack Jack, when I do something I want it to be as good as it gets no matter what it is. It's similar to pride but it's much less envious. It's more like a scoff at humanity not so much because of a superiority complex but because I believe people can do things six-scores-of-lots BETTER than they do pretty much everything. I'm a lover of passion and dignity in what one does with life as an artistic expression, even for nihilists who don't see the Universe as a grand scheme. (which one can't be sure of)
