My mom's birthday is the 21 of December. I don't recall what my siblings and I did as children as we had no jobs to earn money to buy gifts, but we would usually have a nice dinner on her birthday and again on Christmas. When we got older, she would playfully demand two separate gifts. I think it has now evolved into we all chip in to get her a truly ridiculously expensive bag to cover bot day and then smaller knick-knacks here and there. Dinner is still a must.
