Im big into panfish now after fishing for over 50 years for big bass and big cats crappie are my favorite now and bluegill shell crackers as we call them in Florida are great fish to catch and great eating too.

I love the bison color for panfish/crappie magnets (black and brown/tan) it’s caught me a ton of panfish in both clear and muddy water. I also like using them (panfish/crappie magnets) on a beetle spin I get more bites using them than with the grub that comes with the beetle spin
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
Yes! Love those crappie magnets. Sometimes if the bite is a little weird and I get a lot of misses on the beetlespin I’ll put a crappie magnet on and start catching them better.
@SmokeEater509 Жыл бұрын
I'd highly recommend the Rebel Crickhoppers. They're a little more pricey so it's aggravating when you snag one but I've caught bass, crappie, and bluegill on them a TON.

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

hey bud. if curios there are smaller plastics that you could match the hatch depending on year. mud bugs helgramites all by BY baits wors pretty well. gills and even trout
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
The easy match the hatch on smaller plastics for me is with trout magnets. Caddis flies, and wax worms are smaller too and catch a ton of fish on light jig heads.

Adam, from Kayak Catfish, shows how effective the 1" Gulp minnow, in smelt color, can be for just about everything, especially panfish.

Thank you for these videos. I have always loved fishing as a kid but pretty much only used a spoon for everything. Now that I'm a dad of a 3 year-old im trying to learn more to increase his chances of catching some of these little fish. So thank you again for all the advice!
@TBassFactory Жыл бұрын
Your welcome bud! I used to take my boy when he was that same age and you can’t beat live worms under a bobber. 3 year olds can only stand about an hour or 2 of fishing usually and that setup almost always catches them and keeps their attention.

You should also try Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows

Yes I need to try those and see what I can catch. Thanks bud!
@crazyfingers193 ай бұрын
I am not ripping on gulp minnows at all. My go to lure for winter trout in SC Pa. That being said, try the Berkeley Power Bait minnow. For panfish, bass, and catties you’ll catch 3X-5X the fish before the lure is destroyed. Saved me quite a bit of money over the last 2 years after making the switch. On super clear cold trout streams I stick to the gulp but the rest of the time it’s the power bait.

I swear by 1/16oz beetle spins. You can't go wrong with a good white & red dot beetle spin when nothing else works. I've even caught smallmouth and northerns on them
@TBassFactory5 ай бұрын
You got that right!
@crazyfingers193 ай бұрын
I agree. Old school lure for sure. I use a #1 beetle spinner with a 1/32 oz jighead tipped with a Power Bait 1-1/2” minnow in smelt or black shad color
@crazyfingers193 ай бұрын
Hit the wrong button. Oh well. To continue. . . I use these on an ultralight with 4lb test flouro on the lower Susky and easily catch 3-7 species every evening. Most of them are smaller but several times a season you’ll hook into a big one. 3-5 lb smallies and channel cats are not out of the question.

Unfortunately, my favorite go-to panfish plastic is no longer made… the Yum 1 1/2” Woolly Curly Tail on a 1/16 oz. RoadRunner. Seemed to catch only the bigger (1/2 lb. or better) bluegills for some reason. Don’t know why they were discontinued.
