Call me crazy but I feel like full tals has hidden stats or something I had shako , hoto, skulders and your usual off set +skill gear and was doing way worse than putting full tals back on. I absolutely destroy everything as a fire/cold sorc with orb/fireball/meteor with my full tals. The only downside is my cta doesn't give much bonus hp because of my massive amount of +sorc instead of +all

Full Tal has always been a popular choice. There's a reason why it's always worth at-least one HR during the ladder seasons, because it's simple and effective. The debate has always been 3-piece with occy and shako vs. full tal. I did research about this years ago and this debate has been discussed since 2004 quite heavily. The conclusions are that full tall offers more sturdiness and damage while 3-piece offers more MF. I think many people prefer doing the 3-piece online since they're stuck in players 1. So you may as well just stack as much MF as possible as everything dies quickly anyways with either gear set up. The extra 100 MF can go a long way if you don't have a lot of MF from other sources.

@@MhUser Interesting statement. Now I do not know current prices since I haven't purchased D2R yet, but generally full tal or 3-tal is not too expensive except for the first few weeks of a ladder. So the idea is that you do the small investment in your MF gear so that you can use that build to farm and create new builds with. In general for most effective builds in PVM (and definitely PVP), just one piece of said build is more expensive than full tal or 3-tal. Take for example the runeword Grief, which has a Lo in it (and often times Lo is just as expensive as Jah or Ber). Now full tal is generally worth about 1HR and it's not uncommon to get a full-tal for an ohm or vex depending on the current ladder economy, but in either case this is cheaper than a Lo rune at any point in the ladder. In-fact, nearly every season I played D2 the prices after two weeks or so are this: -Tal chest = Ist -Tal ammy = Ist -Tal orb, belt, helm = a few pgems except for maybe the perfect rolled ones -Occy - Pul -Shako - Pul/Ist depending on defense roll So any way you slice it, either set up is cheaper than a single piece of most builds. Not to mention to make any MF build as effective as a sorceress you need Enigma, which is a Jah and Ber. So all in all, what I'm trying to say is that if you want to create more characters, then for sure you will want some more MF despite the fact that you can afford either of these set ups (since they're relatively cheap set-ups).

Honestly, I don't think this was a good comparison. With an inventory full of good charms, access to torch, comparing at players1 and with CtA, the differences are just almost meaningless. You have well over 500 MF in all 3 setups, more than enough mana and life so you basically can't die, and more. The only difference is a few resists, some (tals) or a lot of (fathom) extra damage, and the extra 50 or 100 MF that Occy+Shako provides. Dimishing returns would point towards maximizing dmg, but at players1 with such godly gear the enemies will melt anyway. I think it would be more useful to the average or even somewhat rich player to compare at lower numbers. People will have a bunch of 7% small charms but maybe not two dozen, maybe not 2 SoJs, etc.

yeah i was wondering why on p1? in the end u want to max out ur run so at least p5 imo ofc p7 prefered... and y i also agree on the fact, that, at the piont u get tal armor u have probalby the set complete but the rest of the gear is where its stands/falls du u have occu/hoto/DF? do u have 2x sojs and so on (charms are the same category, in theory u could have mf skiller) and for me ~350ish mf is the piont i want to reach everything more is bonus, after that i focus more on dmg but overall i agree the comparison lacks a bit and imo u just go full tal if u want the shiny aura :P

Yeah I mean, if you're doing p1, the enemies are melting with all 3 setups, so one would think that going for Occy+Shako would be best. Yet, going from 533 to 633 is only a 170 -> 179 improvement in Uniques, which is very small, so you might choose something else if you hate the Teleport proc or something. Also, with the enemies dying so easily at p1, you definitely don't need CtA on Switch, so Harmony would be an optimal weapon switch for the velocity while in town. It just wasn't very useful. The takeout was "BlizzSorc has 3 godly setups for AT that are 1-5% apart from each other depending on which stat you're looking".

I'd use the Tal set for MFing with p8 for the resistances, so I could actually try to MF other places as well with more survivability. For p1, I'd go with the set with most MF as I would MF fewer places, but increased chances of getting better items.

I have 700 mf sors, verry good rez. This sors can kill up to act 4 hell, no need to use potions. Items: oculus(ist), armor is eth skull(sometning), 2*30mf rings, amulet- 34mf 19 all rez. shako(yellow perf), spirit, 50 war boots. Max greed, 2 tombs of... cube 20rez torch,anix and 7mf charms. Verry easy to kill mefo, andy tunels, act 1 and 2 keys.

I think you forgot that df only has 20 fcr, in the DF video you are running 95fcr, you need a ring with that setup. Outside of that a nice video, personaly i would have used 2fcr rings with mf + chanceguards for the 3tals + oculus build, the sojs dont really do much, you kill so fast anyway, but for the integrity of the test it was fine.

Have you ever made an avenger? I have a base and spare runes for a famine zerker and I have never played one. I can pull a merc faith from another toon and try it, was just wondering how it stacks up. It's a very hipster pally but being able to ignore all resistances more or less with the variety of mixed damage seems like a nice relief, and pally is likely the most survivable class so I can open up a lot of space in gear even if I do not have to go to the nines for anything in particular. Which also means I can use a bunch of random unique and rares that I have hanging around instead of them just sitting there looking pretty.

Full tal set shines with mete-blizz hybrid. Did it on ladder in2019, could solo anything in hell. Ultra rare Cold/Fire immune static+telekinesis lock untill merc finished. Kinda funny for nostlagy's sake.

I can't count the amount of times occy auto tele has saved my ass. It's instant when it happens, and you can be stun locked and still be teleported. FHR can't always come in clutch. That and, shit rarely should be hitting you anyways when fighting usually.

hrm idk I always ran light sorc as end game builds and did the 3x set for light. either x3 set or full on dmg build with coh maras max eschutas max griffins with facets ect. full tals gives extra dmg for cold sorcs but not for light, and I have always felt cold was superior for starting out but light is definitely always superior with gear. in my summarization tals 3x for light, full tals for cold. the 1 thing ive always done with the x3 set is needing resists from scs boots and 1 fcr ring. and its really quite ez to get close to max resists if going mf/res scs with mf/resist boots, fcr ring, for your x3 set. I suppose full tals is quite simple and easy. but i dont ever wish to go backwards and play cold as apposed to light. 3x tals > full

I was thinking of starting a single player Holy Grail quest myself, beginning with a Sorceress for running LK, then moving to a Javazon for bases from cows and finally a Pitzerker for sets/uniques. What do you think of this strategy? Can it be changed/improved in any way?

It’s an efficient strategy, but it’ll get pretty boring once you get to around 30 items left. Constantly playing a pitzerker is very boring (in my opinion). You’ll have more fun making a bunch of different characters while on your grail quest. Good luck.

I did the same thing except started with a hammerdin. I found blizzard sor boring and hammerdin with zero gear actually viable to pass hell and mf basics. P5 pits at level 80 with shopped items and spirit sword shield combo only. The biggest problem is Infinity and Enigma, without these two items many builds will be too inefficient. And getting enough HRs in SP is hard.

Depends on your kill speed really.Can you clear player 7 setting comfortably?If so might aswell do them runs on p7 but seeing as you say you play hybrid i bet you are not that geared maybe at most try players 3 untill u get better equipment.Players 3-5-7 are all the checkpoints you get increase in drops. Edit: Since you probably play PlugY never sacrifice killing speed for big loads of mf or higher setting if you are not geared well enough to drop p7 monsters quick.

@@michaelmcclung1829 If you don't have Infinity and play on PlugY, there's only one answer, blizzard sorceress on Ancient Tunnels, due to Cold Mastery basically working as an Infinity, it's the only char that, with good gear, can do players 5-7 Ancient Tunnel runs relatively comfy. Without Infinity, both Fire and Lightning skills simply won't do enough damage to do anything noteworthy.

Did a lot of testing between both myself, and found 3piece tals to be best for p1 farming, and full tals to be better for anything p3 and up. My setups almost identical to yours but I instead of magefist/2 soj I use chancies and 2 10fcr/15mf/dual res rare rings to maintain the 105 fcr

Dude.. You know, I was never a Necromander guy, since its debatable for HC single plugy. I have a level 80 summoner which is fun but killspeed is really slow until I have the (super) highend gear. Now I reactivated my poison necromancer (from like level 50) and since I have a level 37 battleorder to buff myself, I can almost fully equip damage stuff. So I have at least a level 40 poison nova, backed up by a level 10 lower resistance from a staff and a level 36 corpse explosion and you know .. I dont even have deathsweb and bramble right now but the damage output is already utterly insane. I highly recommend that you play one by yourself and yeah, maybe make a video in the future.

Debrunksi is right, full tals can still clear p8. The one thing that wasn't mentioned tbh is the dr from shako. Avoiding putting your character into recovery mode is essential on a sorc. If you have ES on, the 10% dr from shako can potentially stop you from entering recovery mode. Especially given that your biggest source of incoming damage will be being pinned down while amped, it makes 3 piece slightly more effective than full tals.

The comparison is not really good or lets say on even grounds. Full Tal Set is best played with a dual sorc of any elemental combination. In my d2 days i Always aimed for full Tal First. This enables you to farm everywhere , because with a good merc, there are no immunes. And you have good Killspeed allways. Besides everything above 400 MF is probably a waist with all that dimishing Return. So For me the 3 Tal combo never was worth using, because you only gain some more or less useless MF and sacrifice damage, safety and versatility for that. And for that reason in the end its also Not the best build for Mono sorcs.
