Despite the awesome darkness of this movie, it also captures the freedom and creative explosion of the 80s, it really was an extremely fun time, the entire decade for me. I at once love all the 80s stuff now available on youtube but sometimes its almost hard to watch/listen to, because I wana go back home so bad sometimes. I miss the 80's loads too. I tell my kids it was the best time to grow up, so much more freedom back then. Stayed out all day, and didn't go home until it started to get dark. I won't dare allow my kids out now like that, not on their own, not these days. Best movies, they don't make them like that. Back in our day commercialization of movies WORKED! If you liked what you saw companies wanted to advertise to your product then along came cable vision where commercials were still ram-rodded down your throat but it didn’t matter because you had to pay for a bazillion channels that you didn’t watch. Eventually they figured this out and learned that quality no longer mattered. You’ll pay your cable bill and their pure SHIT will continue to air no matter if people watched it or not. Agenda-vision was born and now that we are all watching internet TV it’s even worse! I was 25 when this came out. Saw it first in a theate on the big screen. I was Living in Northern California at the time, took weekend trips to Santa Cruz & the boardwalk. Loved this movie from the first frames & first notes of the soundtrack. The train bridge scene blew me away. What a beautiful cinematic dream to wrap around my youth, when I felt as young & strong & cool as the kids in this movie. I'm 61 now! But this movie always takes me back to those truly golden years.
