Nice yapping in the beginning 🔥 to add something I'm Italian, to me both languages are ""foreign"" (oc i can understand Eng and need sub for jap but the point it's another) I grew up with Italian voices in db and when i started playing games the eng dub was the preset, so I also did get used to that That's why now I simply prefer to hear character voices like I'm USED TO KNOW THEM, to me jap in db sounds a little goofy (my bad) It's only that, who cares if jap is very good and dub can't even lip sync a little bit Wtf guys nothing is objective in liking something!

Zeno Robinson’s scream for Gamma 2 was actually done in one take. His recording was scheduled shortly after Toriyamas death, so he showed up and nailed it in one take and everyone was really emotional from how good it was. Definitely deserves to be spoken about.

I really like dragonball’s dub because they try their best to interpret and add emotion into their performances. Not to take away from the sub but my favorite dub moments involve GT’s android 17 and super 17. In the Japanese dub he’s emotionless, which I like, and in english he’s conflicted and sadistic (credit to chuck huber for voicing him and stein from soul eater) Ps. Gamma 2’s va nailed the dub

I don't have strong opinions on which dub is better because I think both are great. With dokkan however it feels like sub is more consistant but dubs peaks are much higher, so there is something good for both sides.

It may seem surprising, but Masako Nozawa is actually not very good at recording game voices. According to her, "I feel uncomfortable without pictures. (Game voice recording basically takes the form of lines written in a script and read in order.) So the staff has to give good instructions. But most of the time, that is not possible. The reason is simple: there is no one to persuade them because they are too experienced. In a recent work, "Dragon Ball Super Broly" was well directed by the staff, and the so-called "accent" was suppressed.

So the we saiyans have no limits is a mega meme in the community for the fact of that the ssb Goku and vegeta part are actually trash they were made for the fusion zamasu fight and every figth after they were worthless in base as they had 0 offence and very bad defense as well as having one of the worst transformation conditions since AGL lr gohan and is never consistent and them to say they have NO LIMITS is pretty insulting considering there pretty limited

2024 has been so good because we have barely gotten badly designed characters, but usually the common theme to bad designed characters are too many category restrictions, or terrible transformation conditions.

@@zero38xt It really depends, bc feels like half the community will say a unit's a fumble if they aren't top 5 overall in the game lmao, but usually it's just if they have some horrible restriction needed to become good, or if their peak is just not very high/the release itself is incredibly underwhelming. Most releases tend not to be fumbles but it does happen, and 2023 had probably the most fumbled releases in "modern" Dokkan (basically the last 5 yrs) Case in point, the DFE AGL Frieza was pretty much the only real fumbled premium unit last year because he is very offensive naturally but he doesn't have any defensive mechanics that were necessary for him to even live to see his crazy damage (damage reduction, dodge, and/or guard), plus all of his raw defense buffs are locked behind a horrible restriction of needing a full team of units in the Terrifying Conquerors category, of which there were absolutely 0 runnable units until like the last few months of 2024 and even still there's not much room for teambuilding. This man came out in FEBRUARY, right after the 9th anni powercreeped everything, and even with all his restrictions fulfilled his defense was only barely able to handle the normal attacks of the hardest fights at the time of his release. That's a real fumble, other examples are the RoF SSJ Blues from 2022, PHY Raditz from 2022 (basically the biggest meme next to the Saiyans with no limits), and practically every monthly filler release in 2023.

The releases themselves are really cool, having the openings as units is really creative, but at the time it was like the worst option in the community's eyes because LR Omega (who did finally get his first LR later during tanabata and sucked, another fumble) and LR Kid Buu were right there as the perfect part 2 units following the spirit bomb headliners.

1 thing that may be the reason some dubs are off is they have no directory. The Jp probably got notes that oh, it was from this moment so we'll tell Nozawa to do it in this tone while in English, they are just told (maybe sometime they get notes, I'm not too sure) to just read the lines. Easy example, Family Kamehameha, why did Goku sounded like he's already struggling when he is just descending down from heaven? Like he wasn't even doing anything yet or he was in the fight.

With the Gamma’s, I honestly can’t choose. I feel the heart and soul in it for both and they both just sound incredible. I think Japanese just sounds more natural and flows better for me for a lot of things tho. Lip syncing is one of the biggie’s for me.
