I like how in universe characters like Ichigo, renji, and even Toshiro to an extent didn't have powerful bankai's because they got them very early on. It's like the narrative is saying, sure you can have these powers early but it comes with consequences

The most interesting part of Bankai is that for some reason, some characters’ Bankai are incompatible with their chosen fighting style. Like why does Soifon need an ICBM for a Bankai when her whole deal is speed blitzing? Maybe it’s a false Bankai and she never bothered to rectify the issue?

one thing i thought was when using zarakis nazorashi, he has a child like sense of happiness as if he gains a new playmate when he calls its name, and yachiru is actually a little kid looking for a playmate...maybe im just relating this to my own personal experience but i believe unohana stepped out of the way to let him have a true friend and he found it in a manifested little girl...even after he met Ichigo he always wanted someone to play with, though ichigo does not mind, he has his own life in the human world...it reminds me of loosing my grandma and her telling me ill have a best friend again one day

Bankai is such an iconic power system. Really hoping Kubo gives us Ichigo true bankai in the rest of the tybw anime. Seriously there is no reason this time why he shouldn’t, especially since it seems like he didn’t have time to think of what Ichigo’s true bankai is.

I think it would depend on how split personality in Bleach would be rationalized. I'd imagine if it is just personality, it would probably be two ends of a single ability, such as one controlling fire while the other ice, but the overall ability would just be temperature control. If the split personalities manifested as split souls in one body, it probably would manifest as twin blades that only the proper personality could activate the proper Zanpakuto.

Bankai can have multiple categories depending on how they are refined. Komamura's could be worn like armor. Like Yamamoto's Zanka no Tachi transforming the weapon, summoning being worn and being a single powerful attack.

I think you missed something in classifications. The hint is in your frustration with Byakuya's bankai. Zanka no Tachi, as the bankai of the shinigami with the highest level of mastery, expresses 4 different aspects: North, South, East and West. It works as a condensation of power, an expansion of power, a manifestation of conceptual control, and a 'final strike' type attack. Byakuya's Senbonsakura Kageyoshi is more refined than most other bankai on the list and so exhibits traits from multiple possible aspects but not all. Most other bankai on the list rely on one aspect and eventuall "evolve" or change to better represent a different aspect. Bankai, when mastered to a higher degree, gain additional expressions. And Ichibei is an outlier because his is not a bankai. His is aits oddity shinuchi. In bleach naming matters, not being called a bankao is significant and explains

Senbonzakura being in all catagories is very interesting. I would classify Yama's Bankai the same way. In fact since both are so powerful I think no Bankai is complete until it has powers in all the catagories. Also this is probably the reason Beyakuya says you need many years of practice with a Bankai before you can Master it fully, you need years to explore how your Bankai expresses itself in each category.

I've heard it said that a zanpakuto is the externalization of the Jungian concepts of Persona and Shadow. With Shikai representing what you present yourself as, while Bankai represents your true nature. Two examples that show this in totally different ways: Sajin Komomura and Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Sajin's shikai Tengen takes the form of pieces of a great warrior attacking on his behalf. And Kokujo Tengen Myo is just more of the same with the full giant. Showing that Sajin really is who he presents as: a benevolent warrior devoted to justice and defending those weaker than himself. Compare that to Mayuri's zanpakuto. Ashisogi Jizo is unpleasant to look at and has morally questionable abilities in its paralytic toxin delivered upon wounding the enemy. Reflecting that Mayuri presents himself as someone who may be unpleasant, but is unquestionably useful as a servant of the greater good. Konjiki Ashisogi Jizo however is a massive, ugly thing that is indiscriminate in who it poisons and very likely kills. Reflecting that underneath his pretenses, Mayuri is a selfish psychopath with zero regard for human life. The very epitome of emotionless, pure logic that leads to the most heinous of crimes in the name of science.

I’ve been thinking about something for a while and correct me if I’m wrong but was Ichigo’s original Bankai incomplete because he didn’t train with his Zanpakuto for 10 years like everyone else. (Also include Kisuke). Back when Ichigo got his Zanpakuto after getting his soul reaper powers back, wasn’t his Shikai Zangetsu an incomplete one too.

Nope,he is a genetic freak of nature,his genes are insane and he belongs to a royal family. So his potential was insane,it was incomplete because old man zangetsu(his Quincy power manifestation) didn't want him to became a soul reaper to protect him, so he became his main source of power and didn't let him use all his soul reaper and hollow powers but those powers slowly started to leak because he couldn't hold back his soul reaper and hollow powers anymore and in thousand year blood war he let go of Ichigo's hold and he finally could access all his power

She's a brash, emotional person with great pride in her skills. It fits her perfectly. Consider this, of all people in Bleach, she would benefit from bakudo the most yet she never really uses it in combat. Hell, her shikai requires the precision and speed to hit a spot in the same place twice. Her entire combat style and abilities pretty much require her to be center stage.

While I agree that Gin’s bankai could’ve been better, I don't think it’s something an opponent can easily deal with. The first problem is speed, not too many people are going to be as fast as Ichigo was. The other problem is power, bro literally sliced through those buildings in FKT arc like butter. And the last problem is the poison, maybe one is indeed able to stop his sword strikes, one hit is all he needs. I just felt the need to comment this pretty much for the same reason you put Ichibei in a different class because Soi Fon and Kensei’s bankais are just so underwhelming that Gin should have special mention.

I think bankai transformations are not limited. Users abilities limits bankai and its transformation. Yamamoto's bankai when we see thousand years ago. He only has Zanka no tachi west and we can later confirmed that by Royd Lloyd shocked when he saw transformations of bankai. So bankai's can evolve and can gain extra features, forms. If every "weak" bankai train enough from its user and user better understand themselves, bankai will become more broken over time. Extra note: I think there is no such concept of weak in Bleach. Two major factors make lose the battle: 1- Wrong opponent. generally Kubo makes exact counter abilities fight and the other side absolutely loses the battle. 2- General smartness, this can be boiled down battle IQ, general IQ, environment awareness, madness, act of revenge. Always the one outsmarted other wins war.
