Yup, those were the days when DC-10s and other legacy wide-body jets ruled the skies. Same engine sounds as I recall on past NW + United DC-10 flights. Same engines used, I presume, on those legacy airlines at the time they were flown.

Love that engine sound! Nice video

I too, love that engine sound on this last flying DC-10. Reminded me of DC-10's flown on NW / NWA, now out of business. RIP, NW.

That's a great seat and listen to the great sound of that CF-6 engine Note GE emblem on cowl.

11:41 - Right about now, folks next to that section of windows aboard AA-191 would get the view of their lives - as that port wing engine lifted up and flipped back over that wing at O'Hare back in 1979. O. M. G.!

Great video and audio, including of those big arse engines powering up to get this old wide-body bird off of the ground.

I still occasionally see DC-10's serving fed-ex coming into our airport. It really does feel like an earthquake when they take off and land. Loudest bird ever.

I guess you never heard the Concorde takeoff and also an old DC-8-63 right?

You should’ve heard about the B727 and DC-9 when they didn’t have hush kits.
@JishyFishy41064 жыл бұрын
I could easily mistake it with a TF39. Only differences R that TF39 has a 1.5 staged T-fan due 2 which the sound can B clearly heard behind also. This Cf6-50c doesn't have all these hence it isn't heard behind the engine also.

The DC-10 doesn't seem like an underpowered plane when it takes off. It has power to spare it seems. It would be great if there was data to show the 0-100 mph of all planes as a comparison.

It isn't but MD 11 pilots sometimes disagree.

Wow in thoses days dc 10s engines would literally scream down the runway becasue you really heard them!
@DH111d5 жыл бұрын
Yep, they were real loud screaming workhorse engines. Heard them whenever NW and UA flights came into SEA + PDX when I was out there earlier. Sound effects are very close to those that I remember on these old tri-jets. Loud, that's for sure.
