I always thought Phantasm's design in the movie reminded me of Grim Reaper and Dr. Doom. I didn't see the movie cuz I wasn't born in the 90s but luckily, I saw it on Cartoon Network:D

With DCC somewhat expanding the DCAU/Bruce Timm figure line with their release of the main 3 of Justice League: Gods and Monsters, I'm really hoping they announce a Batman Beyond figure soon, maybe at Toy Fair.

The batman in this 2 pack with this head was supposed to be on in this 2 pack and the head in the promo picture for batman animated series which was never released. I like the head in the promo pics because bigger eyes

Mask of the Phantasm was one of my favorite animated movies and I really liked this character. Wish she would of made it into other stories outside of that movie. It's been so long since I've seen her that I forgot how much her design influenced the design of my own character, Mystery Phantom. He was originally suppose to be called Hell Teen but at the time I wasn't allowed to say Hell so I quickly changed his name. Instead of the hook gauntlet thing he actually had a skeletal hand but the rest of his costume is basically the same. I also took a lot of influence from Spawn as under his mask he has a burned face. Micheal Phillips, became Mystery Phantom after dying in a fire that he started trying to burn down his high school. He was basically a troubled teen who went to Hell and back. Then he ended up using his powers to fight crime in an attempt to make up for his crimes in life. I always thought that his look was based on one Halloween when I didn't have a costume and threw a bunch of stuff together to make one including Jason's Hockey Mask, a grim reaper cape, a Freddy Kruger glove (not his glove but rather a glove meant to represent his uncovered hand), and a toy skeleton hand. Never even realized how much I must of looked like the Phantasm.

I definitely liked Mask of the Phantasm, but I don't think it's the best one (in my opinion). I was actually kinda bored with it the first couple of times I watched it. I do like these figures, though

Mask of the phantasm was an amazing film. I just hate how the toys we grew up with gained a few more articulation points yet doubled in price. These are not durable either.

Jeddostotle7 I get the inflation cost, but honestly these aren't as well sculpted as the marvel legends of the same price that are a larger scale with even more articulation. If it's a collectable it should be more thoughtful in its quality. Granted the art style of these figures can really complicate that. I still think these are awesome, I can tell you know quality. I'm concerned about long term joint stiffness, after posing and the like.

Robert Alford Green I've had my BTAS Batman from this line for a couple months, and he's had no breakages; DCC really fixed the joints after the first wave or two.

Thumbed down for all the spoilers. I mean yeah the movie is old, but what was the purpose of talking about Phantasm's identity? It's not like the mask comes off on the figure, and they don't even mention it on the package, so once again no reason to spoil it for folks.

I will continue to echo my one criticism of this line, I want more articulation from these figures. I love the designs but I want them to also be highly articulated. Anyway great review. It's a great movie and would suggest it to any Batman fan. Great acting and voice acting, I dare say it's better than any of the other animated or even live action movies. My all time favorite Batman movie.

+thunderstudent I'm not normally one to complain that articulation breaks up a sculpt too much, but with how stylized the figures in this series are, I definitely feel that way. I'm fine with no ab crunch or thigh swivel on these figures if it means they're closer to the animation model.

I think it could be done quite easily, but Mattel would then charge more for better articulation and having it not compromise the sculpt. Figures like Marvel Legends and S.H. Figuarts can do it quite successfully BUT They are more expensive. I think Marvel Legends are $40-$50 and some Figuarts can easily be over $100-$125 where as these are about $25 a figure. So They are good for the price but I'd still would love to see these designs with more articulation. Then again I'm more function over form, different strokes for different fokes. I think they are good figures for the price point BUT they could do a lot better and they don't deserve the gushing praise they've been getting from internet reviewers.

thunderstudent ??? These are made by DC Collectibles, not Mattel; DC Collectibles is basically a division of DC Comics itself. Marvel Legends are (MSRP, the actual price can vary somewhat depending on the store) USD$19.99, and you can get S.H. Figuarts for as low as USD$40-$50 if you get them from a Japanese retailer (of course, shipping will probably be somewhat higher, but Ami-Ami isn't usually much higher). The reason for the price of USD$24.99 on these figures is because they aren't mass-produced to the extent of Marvel Legends, where they can price them lower due to their mass market release. These are only sold at comic shops and other similar specialty stores, and there are somewhat less of them made. Also, the reason the articulation lines don't look as bad in those other lines is because they aren't that stylized, and there are already many lines of detail, so they blend in much better. I'm somewhat surprised that I'm saying this, but I really don't think that you could add more articulation to the figures from this line without majorly compromising the appearance of the figures; again, I'm not normally one to say that articulation makes a figure look bad, but with how stylized and simple they are, I don't think you could add much more articulation without losing that animated appearance. Maybe you could add a thigh swivel to some of them, but other than that, there's not much more you can add without making them look much worse.
