Why would a military helicopter be doing training on the course of a commercial plane and in the vicinity of the airport? I think this is the big question that needs to be clarified.

It's probably a mistake, that's the cause of most accidents.

no training of any other aircraft should be in the area where passenger airlines are coming in but since it has been an issue for some time, the actual fault is probably on the part of the military pilot doing the training
@tommloye46263 күн бұрын
@@sinistan1002What’s the difference between a training proficiency flight and a normal flight? Should those normal flights also be terminated? Should aircraft on the ground not be allowed to cross runways because it’s a runway? How do you expect pilots to maintain proficiency if not by training in the environments in which they normally operate?

Why is the FAA allowing ANY flights crossing the approach profile? Just an accident waiting to happen. It appears that the helo pilot thought he saw the CRJ but it was probably another airplane's lights. I used to flying into National, before it became Reagan, regularly and remember seeing people sitting in their offices as we maneuvered around restricted areas. Crazy!

The same reason they allowed to do the exact same thing on the ground.

Having a chopper cleared to fly below an aircraft at 350 is totally inexcusable. Controller is going down. Can’t excuse the airline for missing a chopper at 12:00. Or the chopper for missing an aircraft at 12:00.
@Blondiegirl-g2e3 күн бұрын
The airliner was on approach. They were looking forward gear down landing the plane. The chopper flew right into it.
@youtubeaccount98083 күн бұрын
Not the controller's fault but bad policy. Controller was following policy. Military aircraft should not be allowed to cross the path of civilian flights on approach to an airport.
@mandibarcena66673 күн бұрын
The focus of the airplane pilot is on the airstrip. I can't blame them for not seeing the heli.
@MeerkatADV3 күн бұрын
Stop blaming the controller for a pilot not following the instructions they were given.
@sinistan10023 күн бұрын
lol if the plane was already on approach the controller probably did their job as did the airline pilot this is all on the military pilot doing the training. you understand controllers can only advise they can't take over controls for the pilots

How could this even happen? From what the Camera shows is that the Helicopter crashed in to the PLANE. Didnt he see it? It looks like he went straight in to it. Plus they were told theres a plane there, even if he didnt see for whatever reason. After decades of progress, the United States started moving backwards in progress because the two political parties and the top 1% Fiat wealthy benefited from antiquation. This country should be years of head of where it's at with technology and society but that has been progress has been suppressed because of corporate greed and profit and the power seeking elected representatives.

According to the people in this area , it's common to see military helicopters in the area around the platomic .. military training exercises are common .. UNBELIEVABLE bc it's a extremely busy airport !!! Definitely that must change ! Bc if ATC can't get helicopter on radar it will easily occur again !!! I bet no training exercises Will take place again until ATC is cleared then a system in place for helicopter exercises in a landing or take off zone would definitely be advisable ... Or install radars on ATC and helicopter's ...
