Nice job! BGP is such a beast! Definitely helps to see this in action. Brings an understanding to why a transit layer could be a benefit.

Thanks for the feedback Brent, and I couldn't agree more!

This is such a game changer if you peer with 2 providers or even have 2 circuits from the same provider. Make sure to check out the github account to get access to the entire lab config files and the failover scripts.

Glad you enjoyed it! I've failed over many datacenters with this exact method. BGP over the internet is not a science, but more of an art. There are so many different ways to do the same thing.

On the lab config files the routers only have two interfaces configured with IP addresses but there are three connections, am i missing something how do we set the lab up?

Nice job. I'm from a Juniper background and can complete a 2 x DC Failover as per your video with no problem. But now I have inherited a poorly designed Cisco Network that has a C6880X VSS with two x External links. There is no auto failover if the main link goes down. So, my question; how can I get the same failover on a single VSS with two links that are upstream to another 2 x DC?

Are you using BGP to peer with the provider? It should be similar. If it is just default routing with the ISP, then you would want to setup a default route with IP SLA tracking or some metric to move the route from one ISP to the other.

I don't understand why people put this -unnecessary background score- with study videos which makes a good video annoying and intolerable. 🤷🏼
