DC Icons 7-Pack 6" Rebirth Superman Figure Review

Today I take a look at the upcoming DC Icons Rebirth 6" Superman figure from DC Collectibles. This figure is part of a Justice League 7-pack set for release on 3/22. While the figure does not come with any accessories, this new version of Superman is taller than the previous Icons Superman figure and sports a nicer overall looking sculpt.

I'll also throw in that I'm glad they made them larger. There was a LOT to love about many of the previous Icon figures, but man, they were tiny.

The size increase makes him really appealing and gets him to be about perfect with where I want a superman for my collection. Hope he's going to get a single card release with some accessories like flight hands.

I mean it's cool that they're making them bigger but as long as they still fit in scale with the last 10+ figures Ive bought. Because otherwise that sucks majorly.

This Superman turned out pretty cool looking. Now I need to know, does the other Icons Superman hands fit in the pegs? DC said in their video that they would, but if he is bigger, I'm not sure how that can work.

To be honest, the head sculpt is a bit iffy to me. Not really feeling it.

Superman figures almost never have good head sculpts IMO. I only have 2 Superman 6-7 inch scale figures with decent head sculpts. One is the NECA Christopher Reeves Superman, and the other is the Mafex BVS Superman. The NECA's probably my favorite of the two. I like the Mafex one, but Mafex figures have torso proportion problems that just make their figures look weird. I want a good comics Superman figure, but the heads always look horrible to me. This ones not as bad as most though.

dc collectibles new 52 superman probably had the best head sculpt. if they could just do that same sculpt but with icons size and articulation that would be perfect.

Tom Bowling the icons figures are made out of really good plastic but every other DC Collectible figure is still made out of brittle garbage

Alex Sinibaldi The Wonder Woman figure is the 'Amazo Virus' (The New 52) version I think, not Rebirth.

Alex Sinibaldi Flash has the N52 Lines, and I'd imagine they'd make GL a tad taller.

Actually it appears all these figures have been upscaled, so the retools of Flash and GL can be justified. Wonder Woman, Batman, Aquaman and Superman are different enough for me to buy the whole set. If you don't have any these figures at all, I'd say it's a decent buy especially if you wanted to start a DC Icons collection. I will say if you want them individually, they'll most likely appear on ebay at some point, but I doubt you'll get them for the decent price for them solo. I see the Rebirth Wonder Woman being especially pricey. From my experience, female figures are generally rarer and more sought after. IMO it's better to get them as a set now. I'm going to getting the solo WW figure in April too, because of the accessories and it is a different figure(the Amazo Virus N52 version). IDK about Cyborg though.

The Dc Icons are releasing more figures at toyfair they had showed Nightwing, Super sons two pack which is Damian Wayne Robin and Superboy also Rebirth Supergirl. The Static figure is gonna come out next month since it was pushed back til april.

Disciple of Fear Probably an old article some of the figures were probably put on hold but the line is no where near canceled just slowly releasing stuff here and there. Hopefully they release more figures even other variants of some figures with the updated articulation and height like would love the Green Arrow with the robin hood look where he haves the hat on since thay would be great even a Black Canary and Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl to atleast make the justice league of the animated series.

David Marrero I think the article was from this month or the one prior. There has been quite a few cancelled already tho such as the static figure, etrigan, and others I can't quite recall atm. They were from the whole wave tht etrigan was announced in have apparently been cancelled

Wow they now finally make the height change after almost 10 figures already released. I swear DC Collectibles are absolutely inept when it comes to their products. Articulation in all the wrong figure lines, brittle plastic, horrible paint and botched figure lines.

Usually stuff like this is done ahead of time, in large runs together, and then stored so its ready to hit a street date. The second wave of figures were probably already being package by the time people got their hands on the first wave to complain about things. The fact that they could adjust within a year is massively impressive. Having to redo this whole set from New 52 to Rebirth probably helped but cost them a lot.

I love these redesigns but the prototype head sculpt for wonder woman was much better... The new head sculpt looks squinty and the hair is a block of awful.
