DC Icons New 52 Amazo Virus Wonder Woman Honest Toy Review

Today we will be taking a peek at my latest DC Icons acquisition the Amazo Virus Wonder Woman. This one of my all time favorite looks for Diana the Amazon Princess and I was pretty stoked to receive her in the mail from Man Of Action Figures. Let's open this up and check this out together.

I got the big Bertha Wonder Woman. I like that she is that tall compared to the other figures. She is and Amazon after all and I like how imposing she is next to the other figures. I have a relatively small DC shelf. With the 30th DK Batman and Superman to round out my trinity.

J. José Rivera Torres I’m glad you like here. I find myself standing her with the Multiverse Rebirth DC JL characters because she fits right in with the scale she is in the comics. New Frontier had her taller than the rest so I can see why you’re ok with her being taller.

I'm so bummed they didn't use the original headsculpt (which is shown on the official product images).

+Stephen Banks Me too. I wonder why they pulled the plug on that facial sculpt?

I think they had to vote on which one looked like Fabok's Wonder Woman. Truth be told the prototype face looks very similar to Michael Turner's Wonder Woman. That being said I know it cant be easy to replicate key signature features that an artist puts into a character.

Now that's an idea I've never had cross my mind. A vote. You're right in saying it looks similar to Turners art. With these sculpts sometimes they nail those facial features bang on and other times not so much. Wave 2 of Superman/Batman figures and the Identity Crisis Superman heads stand testament to that.Even though the Identity Crisis head was better it still didn't look like Turner's cover art.

Yeah, I prefer her to the Rebirth Figure. The only reason I can assume her head pops off easily is to place her shield on her back. Mine's head popped back on with no issue. For me she is worth it to me, she does have some issues, like her sword might be a little too long(IMO) and it fits very loose in her hand. I display mine with the New 52 mattel Wonder Woman's sword and it fits nicely. I do wish we got the original head from the promo pics but what we got isn't too bad. And a personal hope is that when they do re-issue the single Rebirth Wonder Woman( they are doing that with Rebirth Bats and Sups) I hope she is scaled down, somewhere between the first Rebirth WW and the Amazo Virus WW. Great review as always.

A great figure that totally pissed me off because of how excited I was for it based on the advertised head sculpt.looked so amazing and then I get my order and it's a totally different butter face. Would've been my favorite ww figure to date. Not trying to be so shallow but I prefer my ww figures to have pretty faces.

What do you mean by "boil and pop"?

Boil some water. Pour it into a cup. Dunk the part you want to soften into the hot water and leave it there for a moment. If it’s the right kind of plastic it will make the plastic softer and you can just pop it out. I have a video called kitbash 101 that shows all of that sort of stuff. That should show you everything you need. :-)

One of the biggest bait and switches dc collectibles ever pulled. Where's that damn head sculpt? No one wants an ugly wonder woman figure. That's like releasing a starfire figure with her in a pants suit.
